I recently went through Ulta for a hair appointment and was originally quoted $230 online but when I called the Ulta Salon in Chandler, AZ where I made my appointment, I was told at that time that it would only be $193 for a color correction and highlights. I was then asked to come in later that day for a consultation with the stylist that would be doing my hair. When I went in for the consultation, it lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes, which was by far the longest consultation Iāve ever had. It was probably because she spent at least half of the time going over and over her color wheel, telling me how my hair is a āred/orangeā and I need to be āblue/green.ā While I have understood since I was in kindergarten how the color wheel works, telling me that Iām orange/red and need to be blue/green means absolutely nothing to me when it comes to actual hair colors (i.e., blonde/brunette, etc.). I relayed this to her repeatedly, explaining that what she was telling me was not making sense. She seemed irritated that I wasnāt understanding this, so I proceeded to request that she show me what she was talking about with color swatches. I had also showed her about 15 photos of what I was looking for since she didnāt seem to be understanding and she continued to ask me throughout the entire consultation, what I wanted after telling her multiple times and showing her several images. I donāt know how much clearer I could have been. By the end of the 1 hour and 15 minute appointment, she showed me color swatches that she felt confident she could accomplish when dying my hair. However, when I went to verify the pricing with her, she then told me it would cost $300 - $350 MAXIMUM. Which was a lot different than the $193 I was quoted earlier that day. She also told me that it would only be $50 every hour it took to get the old color out of my hair. I was not happy with this sly cost increase as it doubled the amount I was told on the phone. Needless to say, when I went back for my appointment the following day at 2:00 PM, I ran into issue after issue with this stylist. For the first hour she did my color correction then, she completely forgot that she had another appointment at 3:00, so for an entire hour I sat doing absolutely nothing while she worked on the other clientās hair. On top of this, she was eating during the appointment, bad mouthing former employees, listening to her air pods, had a friend/family member come in to hangout, and took at least 3-4 personal phone calls in front of me. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSSIONAL!! When she finally completed my hair (5.5 hours later at 7:30 PM), I was shocked to see that it was ORANGE! I was and am beyond furious! She then gave me the bill for almost $500. I was LIVID!! She never once told me that it was going to be more expensive than the already increased price that she told me about the day before. So, my price went from $193 to $300-$350 to now almost $500 for the exact same hair service I had initially requested. This is a scam and a con. I then spoke with the salon manager the next day who at first seemed to be nice and accommodating and in our conversation she told me she will refund at least part of my cost and she was open to discussing refunding more as well as fixing the horrible color. Well, I went back the next day to have her tone down the disgusting orange color and she told me that she was no longer refunding any amount and that I was lucky the original stylist didnāt charge more. She said the original stylist quoted me wrong and because of that, I donāt get any money refunded. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is absolutely ridiculous! I will never EVER again go to Ulta for anything and I will make sure that everyone I know is aware of how they conduct business and how much they care about their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually only come on Google to write bad reviews, as I'm sure is the case with most people. Nobody really thinks about it unless they're upset, then they run to the Internet to post a bad review. Anyway, I wanted to say a few things, first, I'm also a victim of this store having been closed for awhile due to their AC units going down. However, that's really not under their control. I mean, I get that the cooperate people should've moved a little faster, but that has nothing to do with the human beings who work at this store specifically. So you guys bringing down their overall review score is just wild. I visited the store yesterday, 10/14, and the manager on duty at the time, her name is Misha, was so incredibly sweet and helpful. That girl needs a raise, some type of recognition, something! I entered the store, and most of the employees were gathered at the front in a huddle, chit chatting, which was a little bit rude, however Misha, who was clearly busy with a million other things, took the time to stop everything when i walked in, to greet me and welcome me to the store. She asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for, which there was not. I just like to browse. So Misha told me that if I needed anything or had any specific questions, to let her or her team know. All of that was very professional and very sweet, but the kicker was this; as she walked away, I could very faintly hear her say on the radio to the other employees, "team, let's make sure we are greeting our guests when they enter the store. Offer them a bag. Make yourself available to help. This is not social hour ladies!" It was all I could do to hold back my laugh when all the girls in the huddle immediately went their separate ways after said comment. THAT'S how you manage a team. THAT'S how you train your employees. Misha, you are an amazing young woman. Thank you for making my day yesterday! I will be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will never shop Ulta again. I left this location feeling so humiliated and embarrassed. I had never gotten my hair done at this location. I booked an appointment with a stylist online. Ulta called me to say the stylist I booked with had called out but another one could take me. Later that day the stylist calls to ask if I could come in earlier. I did and I had to wait. Stylist ended up wasting over an hour of my time, only to deny me service after our consultation in a very unprofessional way. The way how the stylist spoke to me and consulted me in front of others guest, was embarrassing, humiliating and completely unnecessary. I could tell the stylist didnāt feel confident following my prior Ulta salon notes for highlights. Iāve gotten my hair done at a different Ulta for years. Ulta does really good with requiring stylist to write notes on formulas used that day of the service, guest experience etc in their system. Stylist seemed confused and unsure on how to follow my prior visit notes. After I waited for a while stylist herself couldnāt tell me she didnāt feel comfortable doing my hair and instead sent her manager to tell me in front of all the other guest in the salon. This is actually the second time I've had a bad experience at this location, and it's clear that customer service and respect are not priorities here. I expected better communication, professionalism, and basic courtesy - especially from a brand like Ulta. I won't be returning to Ulta and hope upper management takes these issues seriously to prevent other customers from being treated...
