I take any opportunity I can to shop at Nordstrom. This Cherry Hill location has the poorest selection. It has the same five pairs of steve madden boots on sale and over priced acrylic sweaters from their house brands. However, I still wanted to believe in the magic that is shopping at a department store in person. And usually I’ll find something in the skims, Eileen Fisher, free people wing. As I was shopping here today, I had the grossest encounter with a sales associate. I picked up a small purse from a display of “reduced price” items. Me and my partner made a lap on the ground floor. We looked at shoes, hats, and scarves. We headed toward the escalator to the woman’s clothing floor and was stopped by a sales associate. He offered to ring me up and I declined. I said we were not done shopping and then I asked if I was allowed to bring the item upstairs. He hesitated, first saying I was, but then “correcting” and saying that I was not allowed to and that he would hold on to it for me. I have never been told that I was not allowed to bring merchandise between floors. This $60 bag had a security tag on it and was not chained to the racks like most of the more expensive items are. I have often brought things between floors at otherNordstroms and at this one too! I let him hold on to it because I was already embarrassed enough. I have worked in retail. I know that some items need to be left behind registers or behind cases but I have always been told that policies like that are to be implemented every time with everyone. I have never experienced this at the Nordstrom in King of Prussia, in Boston, in Scottsdale, on 57th street. If it is indeed policy, I understand. However what struck me the most was the entire time we walked through the purses and accessories not a single person asked us if we needed help. Not until he decided that we looked like we were going to make a run for it with sale item! I still wanted the item when it was time to leave but I could not bring myself to interact with him again. His attitude was unfriendly and judgmental. And to be honest it might not be worth the drive. This location lacks many of the brands you would expect at a Nordstrom (like Acne, Miu miu, R13, maje,...
Read moreWhether I’m buying shoes, makeup, skincare products, or bras, I’ve pretty much always experienced the folks at Nordstrom exceeding my expectations of customer service. They go above and beyond to help you find exactly what you are looking for and make sure you’re happy with it. Almost everyone I’ve come in contact with seems genuinely interested in wanting to please me as the customer, although every once in awhile there is one who gets obviously “salesy” with pushing the upsell or presenting products I’m clearly not looking for, which is a huuuuuge turn off for me. Overall, however, I find this far less likely to happen here than other stores, which is what keeps me coming back. I also love the openness of the store there is plenty of open space which is both more physically comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than other department stores.
My most recent experience was buying shoes for my five-year-old. I shop here pretty much exclusively for kids’ shoes because they take the time to size children and ensure a proper fit, which seems to be a lost art these days! This visit my daughter fell in love with a pair of American Girl shoes and after gushing over them I allowed her to wear them out of the store. By the time we got home she had a sore spot on her foot where the zipper was rubbing so I went to take back the shoes the following day. The salesman remembered me and how much my daughter loved the shoes and knew she was heartbroken that I was returning them. He offered to put padding on the inside of the shoe where it was rubbing and said she could try them again and come back if she was still having the problem. The padding solved the issue and she got to keep her beloved shoes and I’m pretty sure that man is...
Read moreLast week, I went to Nordstrom to purchase Baccarat 540 and Baccarat 540 Extrait for my birthday. The Extrait version needed to be ordered so I waited for it to be delivered to the store. When I arrived at the store today, I was advised that I had to go upstairs to Pickup to retrieve my order. The cashier was busy with another customer so she advised that she would be right with me. An older white woman with a short cropped hair cut came from another part of the store. She passed me(I would have been next) and went to the couple behind me. She asked could she help them. I said, "Am I invisible?" I let her know that I should have been helped because I was obviously the next person in line. Begrudgingly, she helped me. When I saw her attitude, I was rightfully annoyed and told her to refund my order. When I asked for a receipt, she said, "You'll get a receipt the same way that you got a receipt when you ordered." Very curt and dry. After I completed my transaction, and began to walk away, another employee said to me, "That's exactly why I don't talk to her." Then another employee approached me as I was leaving to ask if she could help me. I told her what happened. She asked if there was anything that she could do. I said, "No." This lady needs to realize that this isn't 1951 and I'm allowed to spend my money anywhere that I see fit. When I arrived home, I called to speak to a manager. Eventually, I spoke to Adam. I could tell that he wasn't really listening based on his response to my complaint. Nordstrom at Cherry Hill can kick rocks because I will NEVER spend another dime there. I've since ordered my...
