An absolute GEM of a salon! The scheduling process was a delight; I was able to book a last minute appointment on a sunday with no issues. Salon is located in a fantastic area; location is very important to me. Divine service from the moment you enter the salon. I had the honor of having Effie be my stylist. Words can not describe how wonderful she made me feel that day! Apart from being extremely kind, she displayed genuine interest in making sure I was taken care of that day. I love that she took her time to understand what type of look I was going for. I felt completely safe in her hands which has been hard for me in the past with other hair salons. I wholeheartedly appreciate how she took her time with me; other hair salon experiences in the past have made me feel like they were trying to rush me out the door, so to me this meant the world. My hair had alot of dead ends which she cut off perfectly. I love that she added layers to better frame my face as well. Apart from the fabulous haircut, she gave me the best blowout I have ever had! I couldn’t stop smiling for hours after I left the salon. I can’t thank Effie enough for restoring my confidence and making me love my hair again! The only complaint I have is that she is so far from me since I live in Los Angeles lol. It looks like I’ll be having to fly over to Chicago every so often to have my hair done by this angel of a person. I was visiting Chicago, needed a blowout. and chose this salon because it was close to my hotel. I booked online some 10 days ahead , a simple process. I selected a blowout at the time I needed, and it assigned me to a stylist, showing her rate to be $45. I included a note saying due to a back injury I would shampoo at my hotel, and arrive ready to style. I completed the booking and received a confirmation for a blowout with that stylist at $45.

I arrived freshly shampooed, which surprised them as they hadn't seen my note, and chatted with the gal at the desk while waiting for my service. The stylist did a decent job, and I went back to the desk to pay.

The girl informed me that the stylist's rate was $65, not $45 as had been listed on the site and confirmed to me, and she hoped that was okay with me. I said it was NOT okay, that I had confirmation. She said sorry but it was $65 for this stylist. I was rushing to meet family and had no time to dispute this. So I said I'd pay but never return there, saying they'd used a bait and switch. I asked why she didn't tell me when I walked in, rather than after I was finished, and she shrugged.

While visiting Chicago for the first time (looking to move to this beautiful city in the near future), due too much previous traveling I arrived to this city anxious to find a hairstylist to get a hair cut roots color touch up… oh my! I am now even sure how I fortunate I got to find GC by George Charles on my first try! Girls out there know how scary can be when trying a new professional hairstylist and colorist.,Thus salon just gave me a good vibe and went with it! I am so glad to report that everything went great! From the moment I arrived until the moment I left (spent a long time in there between my hair and my nails). Cecilia understood well my wishes and her recommendations were so on point. Sharie applied my hair color (roots touch up) and I love that it looks so blended with the rest of my hair color (I don’t like seeing a big chunks of root color). Brenda dud my regular manicure and what a delightful experience is getting your nails done without been rush and with such a detail to the beauty of your nails. Marie a French lady who was helping out was also so kind and helpful.
