Ulta Beauty — Attraction in Chico

My experience at this Ulta location has been disappointing. The store layout is crowded, particularly around the front counter, making it challenging to navigate into the store as the counter is near the entrance. Despite multiple visits, I have not received assistance from any employees. Instead, I've had to resort to Googling products and reading descriptions online for help. The Benefit brow bar was consistently busy during my most recent visit, and the cramped space made it impossible to browse products without feeling intrusive. Additionally, the testers available are often sticky and dysfunctional, leading to a lack of trust in the products because it only displays how poorly they will perform when purchased. It's concerning that many higher-end testers are locked up, creating a low-trust environment. Unfortunately, the staff here has not been helpful or friendly, in my experience, resulting in a stressful shopping trip for me. Additionally, they often give the impression that they prefer to talk to each other rather than assist customers, further adding to the feeling of being neglected. I believe it would benefit this location to offer samples to indecisive shoppers or even provide information on viral, new, or staff favorite products. Ordered online for store pick up. Waited 10 min , finally called the store after watching only two young ladies working the front counter , asking if they had intentions of bringing my order out to me as for I was on my 30 minute lunch? She said I’m so sorry I’ll be right out with that. She then came out and I asked her why I sat for 10 minutes not being acknowledged, she said they were really short on staff, and all the people that were on the floor were helping other people, and there was only two of them to operate cash registers. This is the second time this is happened to me and I spend thousands of dollars a year at this location. Ulta Corp. Take care of your customers! Equipped your location plenty of help so they can do their job and not have upset people waiting for things because they are so understaffed. This location has had several managers in the past two years. This lack of retention is due to low pay and not having the resources to run that business at the expectation of the community and what should be the expectation of Ulta .I have been, and will now only shop in the Yuba City location wear every single time I go in there they seem to be overstaffed! Ulta overall is fabulous, I love that they carry prestige make-up brands AND drugstore brands. However this review is for this location. It's feast or famine with the staff. I've been in and there aren't enough sales people on the floor to help all the people that want help. Other times there are so many sales staff to help I'm getting asked every few minutes if I need assistance. I'd say it's 50/50 that it'll be over staffed or under staffed. It's also hit or miss with the help you can get. Some staff know their stuff but others not so much. Some of the times they don't have the answers they have directed me to someone else that does, but if they're short staffed then it just means more waiting. But don't go in asking for samples! I found out that they don't give samples when I was shopping for a new foundation. They told me the makeup brands won't allow it, which is weird because you can get samples at Sephora.
