This Library (which is the main branch in the city) is a monumental piece of the downtown area. Beautiful architecture and layout for a public library, it rivals even many campus libraries. The staff is very helpful and friendly (with a few exceptions in the 'security' department) and the resources are endless. The amount of literature available is extraordinary, including graphic novels, even games and movies. The new cubicles are a great addition and the charging stations are incredibly helpful (although many need replaced) they did have a Laptop check out which was amazing; not sure if they still do this. They sell $1 headphones which is great for those in need. The building was two wings with 3 floors, but I believe it is undergoing construction right now. At one point they we're considering tearing it down-- thank God they didn't. They have an art and crafting section on the second floor and much more. I do however wish it stayed open later as some have mentioned before me, but with that being said... This place is more than just a place to read and check out books, it provides a safe place and shelter to those in need, holds events for children and adults alike and holds great history in the city. If you're not from Cincinnati, this is a must see stop while you're here. I myself and surely many others are excited to see what the future holds for the Library as it undergoes these long awaited renovations.
Here's to the city of Cincinnati and the marvel of its historic...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not Denise but her dude. And I love this place it's open to the public so a lot of scum comes through but that is any city. The head quaters is in my opinion the greatest library I've ever been inside of. Its makerspace is perfect for the Ohians with that creative drive; You can really make a dream come to life. The staff is decent and always patient with my rowedy toddlers. There is always security on duty so safety is never in question. And the teams there love what they are doing!! The cincinnati main library is monumental, holding some of Ohio's and it's natives' most prized keepsakes from epic historic battles to epic native brains or rather there works. Not to mention enough computers and storered knowledge (reference material) to feed even the thirstyist mind it's fill. I'm typing this as I'm about to head to the library to start my day. :) i hope this clearifys that some of the reviews are entirely fececius and inaccuare to my many many encounters with the place. And forgive my grammar I'm typing with my things and my spelling has never been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat an utter disappointment. I've lived in Cincinnati for just over 12 years now. I've been told this is THE library to visit. What a waste of time. Firstly, you have to pay for parking. What kind if "public library" doesn't have "public parking"? Next, of the three floors, only the first floor is accessible. Movies and some fiction books. All the other books and reading resources are closed off. What's the point? The entire point of visiting different libraries is to visually look and find books you didn't know existed or how to look up on a computer. I want to look at all the different gardening books. And look at all the different cooking books. And all the different witchcraft books. Etc. Flip through the pages and find the books that cater to the needs I am specifically looking for. You can't do this at this library. What a shame. All that knowledge going to waste. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the disappointment and money, and don't go to...
