We booked a Studio King Guest Room, and that is what our confirmation email listed as well as our receipt. The pictures on the website show this room type as having a full kitchen, plentiful seating including a sofa, bench, desk, chair, etc. That is not at all the room we were given. The room we had is shown on the website as a Standard King, but the manager on duty insisted that she gave us a Studio King. We tried to point out the discrepancy in the pictures on the website, but she declined to check for herself or look at our screenshots. She said we should have booked an Executive King Suite. Again, we pointed out that the Studio King and Executive King pictures on the website show the exact same seating and full kitchen for both rooms. We were not given either of those room types. She said there was nothing they could do. The General Manager graciously offered us a refund once we returned home, but we had to change our family gathering plans in our room since we only had one chair in the room we were given. This manager said he would work with Marriott to get the pictures corrected. They appear corrected on the app, but the website is still showing a Studio King room as having a full kitchen and large living area with seating for at least six. That is either not a Studio King room, or it IS a Studio King room and they gave us a Standard King despite us booking (and getting a confirmation of and being charged for) a Studio King. We were asked to delete our original review of this hotel, which we did, but since the pictures are still incorrect over a month later, we just wanted travelers to be aware that the website pictures might not accurately show the room you are booking (not the fault of the hotel, but how they handled it while we were there for a week was less than professional).
Our profile asked for a room away from elevators. We were given the two rooms directly across from the elevator - the two rooms absolutely closest to the elevator on the entire floor. We double checked our Bonvoy profile, and it still said away from elevators (and a preference for a high floor). We were given a room on the second floor.
Other than that, this hotel does not allow guests to book a mountain view room ahead of time. Many other hotels do. We called, asking for this, if possible. We were told it would be in the notes of our reservation and honored if possible. At check-in, we were told there were no notes included with our reservation, and no mountain view rooms were available for the entire week of our stay (we booked this hotel six months in advance). If the view is important to you, book elsewhere. The street view rooms were VERY loud. The breakfast cook-to-order was nice. Breakfast options were limited or out of stock. Lumen8 restaurant/bar...
Read moreI had a wonderful stay at Element Hotel by Westin in Downtown Colorado Springs during my recent visit. From checking into the hotel to checking out of the hotel, I enjoyed it all and everything in between.
My flight came in the evening so I arrived a little past 8pm for check-in at Element. Vernon was helpful as he checked me in and provided me with useful info about the hotel property and its amenities.
As I made my way to my room, I passed through a well-kept lobby. It was clean and spacious with cute little workstations.
They have plenty of parking spaces in their parking garage.
I really liked how spacious my room was. My room was on the 2nd floor and was close to the elevator so I did hear a lot of foot traffic and courtyard noise; however, it was nothing to complain about. I did like the kitchenette and having a smallish full-size fridge with freezer, dishwasher, pots, pans, dishware and silverware, as well as glassware, sink and faucet with filtered water, large bathroom, spacious living room, closet space, safe, and work desk. The shower was great - good pressure, glass doors, and heated up quickly. I also enjoyed the available conditioning shampoo and body wash - both smelled good. The bed pillows were nice and plumpy, and slightly firm. The bed itself was comfortable.
There was free breakfast behind the lobby desk for all guests. What stood out - unlike other hotels with free breakfast - is that Element Hotel has an on-site cook making hot breakfast on their flat grill. Each day, they had about 3 different options to choose from. For example, avocado toast, veggie scramble, French toast, etc. They also had toasters to toast your bread or bagels, yogurt cart with toppings, as well as coffee, tea, and juices.
I also enjoyed Lumen8 Rooftop Social, which is the 8th floor of their property. They have beautiful night views!
The staff was very courteous. The lady who cooked our breakfasts each morning was wonderful! The gentleman at the front desk (I didn’t get his name) who gave me bandages for my finger from his first aid kit when I wanted to purchase them was very kind. And Fritzie was wonderful during check-out.
Overall, I had a great stay and would love to stay here again the next time I’m in town. Great property, lots of parking, close to Loyal Coffee and other restaurants, beautiful rooftop views, spacious rooms, and wonderful staff!
Thanks, Element Downtown Colorado Springs, for a memorable and...
Read moreWe booked a Studio King room. The website showed pictures of this room as having a full living room area. When we arrived, we were given what the receipt said is a Studio King, but it was a basic hotel room with a king bed and no seating except a desk chair and one chair on the side (Standard King). There was no kitchen, just a small kitchenette, despite showing a full kitchen in the pictures. We were told they'd switch us to a different room but weren't able to do so the entire week we were there. The manager on duty (not the general manager) said we should have booked an Executive King room. We tried to explain that we booked a room (Studio King) based on the pictures on the website, but she kept insisting we booked incorrectly. She would not even check the website herself, to verify, and we offered to show her screen shots of the website and app, but she declined. Eventually we worked with the General Manager who acknowledged that the pictures on the website and app were both not correct. He gave us a generous refund and offered to have us book directly with him next time we're in town, also asking us to delete our original review, which we did. He also said he would work with Marriott to get the website and app corrected. It's now a month later. It does appear that the pictures on the Marriott Bonvoy app have been properly labeled. The website, however, is still showing a Studio King Guest Room as having a sofa, full kitchen, several different seating areas including what appears to be bar stools and a bench and a chair. Unfortunately, that is not what an actual Studio King Guest room at this hotel includes (unless, of course, we truly DID have a Standard King room but they billed us for a Studio King and wrote Studio King on our confirmed reservation and our receipt). The picture errors are not the fault of the hotel. How they (manager on duty) dealt with it is on...
