In a word: Disappointing. Most important up front: Food. It was ok. It's often joked that British food doesn't have any seasoning, that's almost true here. Across the 4 meals our table had we agreed that the food was adequate but not exciting or authentic. Also portions were quite small for $18 a piece. The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was a disgrace. Small, dry, and bland. It looks like the pudding itself is premade and they just add some ice cream and minimal caramel sauce on top. Good alcohol spread but fairly pricey for an on tap draught. The atmosphere and decoration of the restaurant was good. It was heartening to see the red phone box and the many premier league scarves decorating the building. Staff were, overworked? It may have been the day and time we visited (Wednesday night) but there were 2 folks doubling up as wait staff and reception. This led to long wait times for stages of the meal. In addition it seems the chef was also tasked into bringing food out to some tables. The booth we were sat in was dirty. The table was crusty and sticky, the bench seat had crumbs and dirt. Staff didn't even have enough menus for us as we sat down and advised they were "printing more." This location prides itself on being a place to watch British Football. That I will agree on. Many screens give it more of a sports bar feel. There's a nice wrap around bar and plenty of seating. If you were mostly worried about catching a game with some friends over thematic beers this is a good enough place to do so. Next time, I will save my money and put it towards an England trip where I can get some proper Pub Grub.

We made reservations online. When we arrived, the place was almost completely empty. The host said on Sundays, it can be either very quiet, or very full. The space has plenty of teles to watch sport, mostly football (soccer) if it were playing. Most entrees cost between $13-15, which seemed very slightly overpriced for the quality and presentation. We ordered the fish, the poutine, and the kids chicken tenders. The lunch portion fish is about the size of a frozen store bought burrito, but tasted very flavorful. The chips (fries) were nothing to write home about, and were mostly unsalted. Many restaurants in Colorado try, but very few put real effort into making a delicious, authentic, poutine, includingthis one. This restaurant used the normal chips, beef stock for gravy, and fried mozzarella sticks as the cheese. The dish would have been satisfactory had they not used the mozzarella sticks, as the breading spices threw the flavor significantly off. The service was of good quality though. Our server checked on us regularly, had a good knowledge of the dishes being served, made recommendations, and rarely let our cups run empty, including sending us home with take-out drinks. Worth a stop if the game is on, perhaps for some drinks, otherwise it may not be worth going out of your way unless you have a specific craving.

We have a bright spot on our currently gloomy restaurant scene. With so many places going under due to the covid situation; I'm pleased to see that some people chose to venture out and open a new place. Given the restrictions that the local health authorities have placed on restaurants, the GBFC has a nicely varied menu. Even vegetarian and GF options. On this visit we tried the Welsh Rarebit, Lancashire hot pot, Fish and chips, and three of the deserts: the trifle, cheesecake, and chocolate torte. I've recently become obsessed with lamb and the hot pot was wonderful. It's a lamb stew with a topping of thinly sliced potatoes. Perfect for an autumn night in the Rockies. My dining companion had the fish and chips and she thought it was the best fish she had ever had and a huge portion to boot. Deserts were outstanding and the beer list will be growing daily. They plan on featuring European brews with some American ones thrown in to keep the non adventurous beer drinker happy! 😉🤣 I'm looking forward to sampling more dishes and beers at our fantastic new addition to the COS restaurant scene.

My best friend and I went here to watch the switchbacks game with the rest of the group. We had been here before and service was great but food was meh. We were directed to our area then told we would have to get ourself water from a pitcher and plastic cups at the bar. Which was annoying but fine. The waitress asked us if we knew what we wanted and we told her that we just needed a couple minutes to decide. She didn’t come back for probably 15 minutes. We then told her what beverages we wanted and she walked away without letting us order anything else. I called her back to let her know we had picked an appetizer. She seemed frustrated by that. She then didn’t come back for another 10-15 minutes. During this time, I received my drink from the bartender but my friend hadn’t received hers. Once the waitress came back we informed her that we still didn’t receive our other drink but we’re ready to order entrees. We put our orders in and she proceeded to go around and talk to all other tables before checking on our drink. Our appetizer came out. We got basic poutine. The gravy was cold and the fries were undercooked but we didn’t say anything. We decided to just eat them because we were starving. Once our food arrived I was missing my main entree. She said it would be out in just a moment to which I replied no worries and informed her again that we were still missing our other drink. We had ordered it over 30 minutes ago at this point. We finally got that drink and in the meantime discovered that my friends entree was cold and the meat on it was rubbery and overall dissatisfying. We tried to tell her and she kept walking past us so when she finally came back I asked if we could speak to a manger, which I hate doing as someone who has worked in food service for roughly 6 years. I informed the manger of all that had gone on and he told us he would just take the entree off for us. We thanked him and apologized for causing trouble. He was incredibly kind. After all of this we asked the waitress for our checks since we were paying separately. She then brought back just one single check with my food on it and walked away without saying anything else. I put my car down for my check, and when she came back to get it, I asked her if she had the other check since we were both ready to pay. She then looked at me with kind of a dirty look and said well I thought you didn’t want any of the other food on your check. My friend and I were shocked that she gave us so much attitude, but thanked her anyways. We paid for food and sat watching the remainder of the game. The manager then came over and offered us a free round of drinks which was unnecessary but very kind so we accepted , overall the service and food was very poor but the manager was fantastic. I doubt we will ever...

Worst British food I've ever had.

As we walked in we were greeted by the sounds of a guy strangling a cat, and an empty restaurant on a Friday night. The cat strangler was so loud that the host couldn't hear us.

The empty restaurant and paper menus should have been the sign to walk out.

I asked our waiter if the food was as bad as the music, and he said it was a little better. That should have been the next sign to walk out, when the staff don't think much of the food it's telling.

For drinks I wanted an Irn Bru, or a shandy, or a Lilt. But they were out of all imported soda, and had been for a while.

When the food came...it would have made Gordon Ramsey cry, lol. How can you possibly screw up a full english and a cottage pie?

Well, for starters, "British style chips" don't have any place on a full english. I don't have an issue with that, except that they weren't real chips...they tasted the same as any other American fry. The bacon was cold, and had no flavor, and the beans were too sweet. The toast was cold and dry. The only things that tasted right were the sausages (which were cold), the black pudding and the tomato (which was the only warm item.

Then there was the cottage pie. It was bland. The meat had no taste and the cheddar on the mash had no flavor. Worse than that the "seasonal" veggies were still partially frozen.

They make a great deal of the pedigree of their "chef", but a greasy spoon Cafe does better. That leads me to believe that either the chef isn't being given control over his kitchen, or he doesn't like his job anymore and has given up.

So, to sum up, if you are looking for good British food, don't go here. Instead there are plenty of good curry houses in the area...so go get a Chicken Tikka Masala.

Update: in response to the response from Marty.

It's never a good idea for a company to respond in a passive aggressive way, that's not going to win customers over.

Marty claims they "will do better". No. No they won't. The place is more about watching sports than the food. As long as that brings in enough to stay afloat they will continue to serve still frozen "seasonal" veggies and...
