I stumbled across Beard Fitness through a referral, have been working with Scott for just over 3 months and have never looked back. At 53 (a recent empty nester) I decided I wanted to focus on myself and regain strength after struggling to lift something I would have asked my son to help me with, yet he was away at school and not available. After an ACL reconstruction and rotator cuff surgery within the last couple of years, I was feeling a little defeated and still working to regain some loss of mobility as a result of those surgeries. I joined a local gym, but the equipment was very different from what I used decades ago, and it was a little intimidating to work out with all of the people taking videos for Instagram, and there really wasn't anyone to ask for the type of help I needed in that environment. Scott is seriously one of the most welcoming and motivating people I have worked with, and frankly one of the most dedicated fitness professionals I have ever met. His focused guidance and support has helped me cease my negative self-talk, held me accountable to my workouts/nutrition (while helping me understand my needs as a vegetarian for optimal results), and has taught me to lift heavier than I ever would have on my own. He has a way of encouraging me and pushing my limits way beyond my comfort zone in a positive way while building a solid foundation for safe workouts and the confidence to believe in myself.
Scott's kind/easygoing demeanor and focus on proper form and FUN have seriously motivated me and I'm loving the transformation and reappearance of muscles I haven't seen grow in years. Working with Scott has been the best investment I have made in myself in a LONG time. I still have a bit to go in achieving my ultimate goal, I understand there's no quick fix for years of putting myself last yet it's exciting to see the consistent progress I'm making week over week. My success with Scott's coaching is proof that finding the right support and maintaining the right nutrition habits and dedication to the challenging workouts will provide results. Having had multiple knee surgeries, I wasnāt able to squat or lunge for years. After just 9 weeks, I was able to perform deep squats again, and Iām still progressing towards lunges.
