This place was a nightmare from beginning to end. I arrived at 8:30 on a Friday to check in, a process that should have been quick and easy considering I'd booked ahead of time. When I arrived, there was no one in the front. I waited a few moments, called out, tried to press a button that would I assumed might alert someone to our presence, and still no one. Only after CALLING the property did a woman step out. And three of her children, each whining and crying about something different. The check-in process was further delayed by discovering the room I had booked was given to someone else-- because she was on the phone with someone else about it. After an hour of panicked looks to her computer, I was finally given a "sorry" and a different room.
The room wasn't too bad at first glance, just your normal motel room. During my first much-needed restroom break I discovered a thick, lovely long PUBIC HAIR gently placed on the toilet paper roll. The shower was also covered in a weird sticky film that I'm HOPING was soap residue.
I didn't discover their next mishap until the next day. The room cards stopped working. When I came down, I was greeted by a man who spoke no English, who told me he couldn't do anything about it but to go find the maid and ask her to let me in the room. He said when the manager got back she would handle it. Already well-acquainted with the maid and her pubic hair, me and her had a rapport and I think she understood just how awful this place was based on her first question when she saw me, "Do you need in?" I'm led to believe this is a major problem given my neighbors also had the same problem.
Later that night (still no working room keys, just blind faith I might see the maid again), I discovered something ELSE. They'd charged my card twice for my room! Great! Since I found this out a bit later in the day, the manager was not at the front desk and the guy who was there assured me "it would be taken care of." Really? Without my card? I was skeptical, so I asked about it, and he said they would refund 161 and change to my card, when I was charged 158 and change. I corrected him, and asked if I would receive a receipt. He said I would receive it upon checkout. Anyway, it took two tries for him to get my room keys working again. He questioned me about my technique, like it's difficult to use a key card.
Fast forward to today. Another marginally more helpful man helped with a refund and wondered the same thing I did, why a manager would need to do it. I received my receipt so I'm hoping it actually goes through, and next time I'll spring the extra hundred for...
Read moreI started with 5 stars then took a star away for everything I didn’t like. The only reason I’m even giving it 2 stars is because the cops didn’t come and we got to stay in our hotel.
Didn’t see any bed bugs but their was little tiny blood/ orangeish red dots on the pillow case seam. probably dust bites because I checked the seams of the mattresses for bed bugs. My boyfriend used the soap in the bathroom and it broke his face out in a allergic reaction rash.
They don’t dust. I’m not talking like a little dust either. It was a lot, above the bed on the headboard attached to the wall and by the mini fridge and the wall in the bathroom looked like it had boogers or something on it by the toilet. We got a double bed for 4 adults. Before heading to the bars for my birthday celebration we had our friends that were meeting up with come to the hotel for some Jell-O shots. We all left and came back around 3 a.m. we got food and went up to our room to eat it. Only 7 of us came back total. Our friends were not staying the night. They were just waiting on their rides and the manager comes up to the car and told my friends they had to leave. He asked what room they were with. We told them our room number and the manager called the phone in the room and asked us who these people were in the car. We told them just visitors waiting on a ride because they weren’t staying. So again only 7 of us total and he said he saw 8 people and that we only booked for two people and I told him to look it up. He said they had to leave “NO VISITORS ALLOWED!!” or he would have us all kicked out. He said if heard any complaints or saw activity from outside the room he would kick us out. I asked him if we all leave will I get my money back and he said no only 50%. I told him no we’re staying and they are leaving. Only 3 adults we’re staying the night total. He said they had 10 minutes to leave or we all had to leave. I sent them home. Their was drug dealing going on and people smoking weed a couple rooms down in another but our room was targeted for some reason. We weren’t doing drugs or anything illegal but y’all wanna kick us out. We weren’t being loud either. Find a different motel if you want to have friends come visit. This motel definitely isn’t it. We won’t...
Read moreWhat qualifies a motel as a "dive"? I can say I've never been in one until last night when I booked a room at this motel, the German Village Inn. It is clear that those who are responsible for this place just don't care...both by the lack of care to the furnishings, to the glib replies given to people who give comments on this page. Upon arrival at the GERMAN Village Inn, we asked the surly man at the desk to recommend a place to eat. He quickly mentioned, as if to get rid of us, the fast food venues within a 2 block walk. We looked at Google Maps and less than half a block away was Planks Bier Garden and a block away was the highly praised Valkers German Restaurant. You would figure that a GERMAN named motel would recommend a GERMAN themed restaurant! But no...only fastfood places were recommended. The room was generally clean, but looked like it was new perhaps 30 years ago. The word "German" is no longer on the outside Marquee and I doubt a "German" has set foot in this place in decades. The room had numerous "mystery" stains on the walls and the suspended ceiling (kinda like you'd see in a business office), especially in the bathroom where it looked like the wall next to the toilet was going to cave in... The bed makes a horrible KLUNK noise whenever you get in it, get out of it or move around...and it's clear that our bed wasn't the only one making this noise...I heard the same clunking noise from several other rooms from within the room I was staying in. In all, the entire "German Village" in Columbus was a disappointment. The entire area seems depressed and run-down and even sketchy ...I will avoid the entire area in my future travels...especially this motel! I would recommend for anyone who want's to experience any kind of German charm, to completely avoid German Village in Columbus Ohio...You will be disappointed! Travel further east to Pennsylvania for a better German experience...Just stay away from this hotel...You'll...
