Let me begin by saying I had a single gym membership to the rosemead Location. I've been going there for a little more than 3 years. It's the only location I go to so I've seen countless staff members come and go. The place is fine. It's the staff and the members that make it a bad place. The place got remodeled from a Ballys, so the don't have the nice lockers and basketball courts.
So going back to the staff... like I said 3+ year comming here and I never had any problems. June 30 I'm at the gym happy because they finally bought box jump equipment. I don't like stacking the others cause it dangerous and not what there intended for. So I'm using the box jumps equipment and the famous CHRIS everyone loves to yelp about comes and tells me I can't use it. So I ask why not. He said it's for the PT customers (client's) only. I was out raged because No one was using them. I've never missed a payment and now there policy is u must pay extra to use ALL the equipment? so I didn't listen and kept jumping. He come's back a few minutes later with MONA (the main front desk person) and the same thing happens. She told me to stop, I asked why. And again it's about not paying the PT prices. So by then I'm mad. She asked me to leave after she took the box jump equipment away from me.
Since I didn't leave she had the staff call the police. Yes the police. They came and the first thing officer Morales said to me is "WHY WERE YOU THROWING THE WEIGHTS AROUND"? shocked by his question, I said that's a lie! I wasn't even using weights! After talking on the phone with the district manager we came to the agreement that he would give me access to all LA FITNESS and I wouldn't go back for at least a month.
This whole situation I feel would never of happened when LISA was boss. She was fair and all the equipment was working. The steam and sauna were working. Since MONA has been there I've noticed a big change in the moral of the staff and in the facility. The sauna has been broken for I don't know how long. I don't get a discount on my membership when equipment isn't working properly. MONA has zero customer service skills. I've witnessed her being rude and unprofessional to members. (especially the old Asian ladies) I also feel it was very unprofessional of her to lie to a police officer about my a legend throwing of the weights. Check the cameras!
Let's get back to the famous CHRIS that still has his job there despite all the love the show. He has approached two of my female friends, but not for PT. He objectify the girls by "complementing " them on there good looks. Both my friend's (both at different time btw) fame to me after talking about they wanted to leave. Read moreAs someone who has been to this gym when it was still a bally fitness gym I would not recommend anyone to come to this gym. The place is extremely dirty and there is only two of every weight training equipment with people sitting on it but wont use it. More than half of the weights are not where it suppose to be; people keep bring weights into places that they should not including the dancing room and then leave without putting it back. You'd think I would have left this place a long time ago but I sucked it up for almost 10 years because they had given me a decent price in the past year but they finally pissed me off. Me and my family of 7 had a contract for 3 years at the price of 18 dollar a month which this low because we've been members of this gym so many years. Imagine how surprised I was to walk in to the gym and they tell me my contract had expired when it has been only two years and that I've been paying for 26 dollar a month for the past 2 years instead. I would have believed them if I didn't know better that the rest of my family are still paying the same price with a 3 years contract and I (being the only one they didn't give a receipt as proof) strangely had a contract change.
Also, I reported to the staff about one of the equipment being broken. It has been 4 month now and it's still not repaired. I cant say this for other LA Fitness gyms but this place looks more like a rundown prison gym than a health club. I would have stayed for the pool and the sand bags if the changing room and pool wasn't dirty and the sand bag room wasn't littered with weights and other sorts of junk that doesn't belong there.
Edit: Also I never realized people actually wipe down machines after using it. I never seen it once during my time in LA Fitness but I went to a "cheaper" gym I actually see people cleaning it...
Read moreMy dad lost his items yesterday around 2pm in the locker room and needed help finding them. When the girl from front desk asked the male staff (African American male in 20s) to help find the items in the locker as I ping his phone to make sounds, he did not even try to find it and came out within a few seconds. When he took me to upstairs to see if my dad has misplaced them, he was impatient and asked if I had a membership with the gym. Obviously, I am not here to work out but simply wanted to find my dad's items and he stated quickly that you cannot be up here and its only for gym members and was like I gotta go back to work. He also asked me how old my dad is and I did not think it was appropriate to be asking that question when I am clearly in distress and thought it was pretty rude to assume that it was all because of my dad's old age. I was pretty angry and asked if I am here to work out when I am only concerned over his lost items. I get that it is our responsibility to keep our items safe but it is not that hard to be kind and help out people when they need help. I also never gave him attitude and just wanted help from him. Finally, the girl from front desk volunteered to attempt finding the items again in the locker room and she actually finally found them.
