Habit Burger & Grill — Restaurant in California

I usually like Habit, their food and service. Today, I did not.

I placed an order this morning at 10:30am for a family meal and an additional kids meal. The transaction was processed and they took my money. The order should be ready at 10:50am, which was the time I arrived. I entered the restaurant and patiently waited for my name to be called. I noticed that there was a long line of customers so I took a seat. At 11:15am, I checked my order with the manager since it's been long overdue. That's when I'm informed that their wifi is down and they aren't fulfilling online orders. I politely asked if they can just make my order after showing her my receipt. Her response was "Yeah, but I'll have to charge you. And if you want a refund for your online order, you'll have to call corporate." She walked away.

What type of service is that? It was a 10 min drive to the restaurant, 20 min wait, and another 10 min drive home empty handed because I'm absolutely upset at the situation. I DID NOT want to reorder to only be charged again and spend more time calling corporate for my refund. Habit, please do better. The decent thing to do here was to make my order. Or even place a sign so we are aware. I'm sure there's some convenient way to make up the time I wasted. Yes, I'm calling corporate to complain. Ordered the Charburger, Portabella Char, BBQ Bacon Char, Tempura Green Beans, 1/2 Sweet Potato Fries and 1/2 French Fries, and a Mocha Shake. The original Charburger is average small sized with a nice juicy beef patty. The Portabella Char adds mushrooms, roasted garlic aioli and cheese which ups the level from the original charburger. This is much more flavorful and great for a mushroom fan. The BBQ Bacon Char has your typical bacon slices on top of the same beef patty and barbecue sauce. This one can be recommended for someone passing by that craves BBQ sauce. The Tempura Green Beans were nicely fried with a crunch to them and intact pods inside. The Sweet Potato Fries tasted indeed like sweet potatoes, crispy and soft inside. The regular French Fries were about average for the fast food fries segment. The Mocha Shake was a delightful sweet treat with the chocolatey flavor and an almost thawing ice cream like consistency. Staff here were patient taking orders and efficient in getting orders in and out the door. You can order with the help of a staff member or you can use their self-service kiosks too. I'd give 0 stars if possible, me and my husband sat across the kitchen and literally saw an employee start preparing a shake than puts it down on a rack without a lid just out in the open,turns around grabs a spray chemical bottle and a rag and starts spraying all over the counters were they prep, no gloves on at all then stops wiping leaves the rag and goes to bag our order literally grabbed the burger wraps it puts it inside the bag then grabs a couple of napkins puts it over the fries and places it inside the bag,calls us over to give to us and i told her we wanted our food to be cooked all over, because its unsanitary for her to be spraying chemicals all over the kitchen, no gloves and grabbing food with her bare hands, then she tries to tell us that she grabbed the fries with a napkin that is just horrible fortunately our food was done all over again, but who ever runs that establishment need to train their workers better, because if there's even a next time and this happens again I will take a video of it...
