This is a nice neighborhood located in Merrifield. They have a lot of nice casual-dining and upscale restaurants here, which are usually Asian, Middle Eastern and Italian. I love Strawberry Park, which you can relax with a game of chess, benches, and a big screen that shows advertisements and occasional movies. If you go a bit further down near the Pupatella, there is also a little library where you can take a couple of books for FREE, donated by others. Most clothing retailers do close by 9pm, and restaurants by 10:30 pm, but the nightlife before then is nice and bustling. It is a great place to go with friends, family, or on a date. If you have kids, they can have some fun with the illuminated water fountains in the summer, or the seasonal events, including free yoga and barre classes in the park. They also have a nice Christmas market, a year-round farmer's market, and a couple of events to celebrate other holidays, such as Cinco de Mayo and Channukah. Also, there's a lot of security, especially near the park, so the district is pretty safe.
Cons are that parking is a pain, and I wish that the urban planners came up with the idea of traffic lights as I've seen a lot of speeding cars risking the lives of pedestrians, and people driving when it is not their right-of-way. I love Mosaic, but I am scared of driving here with the way others drive here. Maybe also promote the shuttle to discourage...

During our trip the Mosaic District this morning with my wife and our three year old son, I experienced a truly disgruntled elderly mad with a white beard attempting to park his F250. After sometime of patiently waited as he attempted over and over to back up his truck. Once he successfully parked, I the proceeded to back my vehicle in the parking spot beside of him. As both spots were designated for 15 minutes, I felt this was perfect. To my surprise while I was backing up, not so jolly St Nick slammed his truck door and proceed to approach my vehicle to angerly tell me, “You can't park here, it's employee parking only”. I then said to him, “the sign says 15 minute parking”. He then acted all pissy and said, “fine, you'll see” before grabbed his uniform and storming off hastily.
I give the guy the benefit of doubt that he was having a bad day, just like we all do at times. What I don't find comfort in knowing is this angry man is filling a role that is near and dear to our little ones.
This event altered our morning plans as we intended to visit Santa, however it led to us telling our son that the angry old man wasn't Santa but...
