10-2-22 WARNING this will be long. There is a video available here and I think it's about 30 minutes long. First time here. Located in Conyers Georgia off of exit 82 Conyers Monroe. This academy sports is in a new shopping center that was just built which also includes a Northern tools, floors and more and a Honda store. I've never been to an academy sports so this store is definitely new to me. In the front of the store they have a place that's just for carts and then once inside they have two push wheelchairs along with one motorized wheelchair or scooter. Very nice young lady at the front door greeting people. If you go to the right that begins the fishing area with all the lures and tackle boxes and rods. After that is the camping area where they had a lot of yeti paraphernalia. Once you leave the camping area it's the grilling area where they have all the grills, smokers, and seasonings. Once you leave the grilling area you fall into the hunting area, with all of the bows and arrows, pellet guns, pellet ammo, knives, axes, and more. When you leave that area you come upon the actual guns which is still in the hunting area but separate. Lots of different ammo, gun safes, binoculars, sites, scopes, and much more. A following that area is the camo wear. Here is all the camouflage clothing and shoes you can find. Towards the back of the store you end up going through the shoe department which is also the sporting area with shoes, socks, exercise wear, and more. Once you're out of that area you end up at the back wall of bikes. There's also some light exercise equipment, resistance bands, bike helmets, pads, and more. After leaving that area is all of the heavy exercise equipment such as treadmills, weights, kettlebells, boxing gloves, and more. Which leads us to the fitness section. There were trampolines, standalone weights, benches, etc. When you leave that area you go into the actual individual sports baseball, tennis, racquetball, golf, softball, soccer, football,...
Read moreMy first and last time, I will ever go to Academy Sports.
When my mom and I came in, the first employee at the entrance didn't have a care in the world just on his phone at the podium. My mom and I went back to the ammo section. We were looking for 9mm and 2 3/4 00 buck shot. The 9mm was overfilled into the wrong spot, leading us to think it was the cheaper of the two visible prices, and the buck shot had no price. So, my mom went up to the 2 gentlemen at the gun case. One was busy with another customer, and the second one was rude to her. She asked if they had any other boxes larger than the 5 count buckshots and if he could tell us the price of that box since there was no price. His tone and how he answered her with no and to use a price checker in the store to check the price was disrespectful. Excuse us for bothering you. I work in retail, and that's not how you treat customers. I'm sure if we were with our husbands and they treated us the same way, we would have walked out. We were disgusted by the lack of customer service. We then had to find our way towards the maze to checkout, and the cashier, only one, was moving at the speed of a sloth, like the one from Zootopia, the movie. Then another lady just pushed her way through the entire line, and the cashier proceeded to help her instead of everyone that was in line. He finally called for someone to come up and help with the line, and she was about the only nice associate out of the entire store of the 5 associates we encountered. I will not shop at Academy again and will steer all family and friends and future people away because that store lacks customer service and respect for individuals. Find yourself a mom and pop gun shop and support local. We only went here because we were asked to by my step-dad. Never again. I do wish I got the young ladies name because she was the only nice and...
Read moreI was racially profiled at this store location upon purchasing a firearm by The store clerk by the name of Al. I literally handed the clerk my gun permit and Al came yelled over from the computer to ask me if the gun permit that I had pulled from my purse belonged to me! I’m thinking to myself what kind of question is that, didn’t I just take it out of my wallet? The salesman whom was helping me to make my purchase proceeded to help me get everything finalized and Again Al, yells over “Am I making the purchase for myself” I am a married woman and of course I brought my husband in with me to help me pick out a new lighter weight gun for myself. I don’t see anything wrong with me having my husband their with me to purchase a gun for myself. Prior to my purchase me and my husband both had been at the gun counter looking at guns for maybe 30-45 minutes. We both looked, he suggested a couple that may work well for what I wanted and I proceeded to ask the clerk for help to get a feel for the weight of the gun I was looking for. During the countless 2hour time frame I was at the counter, several other ppl had come up to the counter to purchase and not one time did Al suggest or ask the customers of the opposite race were their licenses their own after seeing them take their license from their wallet nor did Al ask them who they were purchasing...
