I don’t know why there isn’t a option to put zero stars. Where do I start ? Well, I went on a run and my guy friend wanted to stop and get food, and we seen this spot open. Around this time it was 12:50 “ish”. Therefore, as we walked in the bar I politely asked the bartender if their kitchen was still opened, (hours are from 11am -2:30 am) and quickly following up with another question asking if it was okay to eat at the time we were arriving. She quietly responded “that’s fine.” Additionally, they usually have a performer there every night, so there was a mic, a guitar, and a iPad set up on a stand. But NO ONE THERE PERFORMING, OR NO ONE NEAR THE EQUIPMENT, REALLY NO ONE in the bar except the bartender. Also, adding my friend and I are in our early 20’s so we are still young, free minded and spirited. Subsequently, the mic was still set up, and obviously what would any young male do? Walk up and try to talk in the mic. Before he could even speak or even approach the mic she screamed “no” and rudely told us that we HAD to leave without any hesitation. Her mind was already set up for us leaving, that she wouldn’t even acknowledge him apologizing for a HARMLESS INCIDENT. The fact that this is a bar, where people should be able to come to, and allowed to be fun spirited, and be able to openly express themselves in a social environment. The man I was with, couldn’t even have that chance before he was rudely put out over an incident that ANYONE WOULD HAVE DONE. And just to add the mic was literally right by the entrance he didn’t go out his way to do anything, he didn’t come in hostile, reckless, causing any danger, or destruction to the equipment, establishment, and especially no harm to the bartender. Never will be here again just will be back to talk to the manager. I am extremely upset, and disgusted on the customer service that was given to us in the matter or 3 minutes of being in ZOLA PUB AND GRILL. Also, I felt as if we didn’t belong in this place from the moment we stepped a foot through the door entrance. Not welcoming at all, don’t recommend this spot to anyone, even if there’s no...
Read moreI frequent this restaurant at least once a week. My 16 year old daughter is a very picky eater she don’t eat red meat never has but their menu is very accommodating to everyone including my daughter that is a very hard person to please when it comes to food. However there menu has many options for everyone and I can assure you that if it’s on their menu it’s going to be top notch. There is nothing in their menu that we didn’t enjoy and I’ll continue to give them my business cuz the food is some of the best food in Covington. The service is outstanding there’s a gentleman Frank that works in the daytime that is absolutely awesome Desirae works I think days and some nights maybe I’m not exactly sure but she is awesome an outstanding as well. Matt the owner cares about all his customers and he does all that he can to keep your cost very affordable which in my opinion says a lot for a business owner. Matt and all the staff are more than friendly they make you very comfortable and make you feel like they want you there. They go above and beyond to make sure you get great service great food and to make you feel at home there. They will always get my business I’d prefer to spend more money giving a business like this my money as appears to giving my business to McDonald’s or some place like that the foods way better the service is outstanding and the small business is working to support there family put kids through college things like that so I’ll always give Matt my business he’s more than earned it and the food speaks for itself. So I’m gonna make sure I tell all my friends to give them business and support through this pandemic cuz they deserve it and I’d really hate for such a great family owned business struggle or close there doors because it’s very hard to find such great people and service now days so I beg anyone that reads this let’s show Matt and his employees some love and give them the business that they deserve and I promise if you do that you will be very happy and proud that you did because they will make sure that you get the service and quality food...
Read moreMy buddy and I went in there Friday night after 11, both of us are from the area, and we both live in Covington. We were looking for something other than pizza.
Zola's has made some changes.
It is much warmer and more pleasant than I remembered from less than a year ago. The lighting seemed more welcoming. It was an environment to sit and eat in.
My friend got the chicken tenders, I got the fried chicken sandwich. He liked the tenders, they were a delicate fry, more 'Chick-fil-a-' than Lee's chicken. The same went for the sandwich.
The fries were steak fries, nothing special, they were evenly cooked, but always formidable. A deeper fry and some herb seasoning would go a long, long way; basil, thyme, ground salt and pepper would do a large service to them.
The chicken sandwich was on a nice powdered deli bun. The fixings were placed with intent, and the cheese was melted over top to keep things in place. The honey mustard sauce was fairly portioned to not make a mess of eating, it might have been in house, too.
It all paired well with my Miller Lite.
The service was a good cop / new cop kind of feel. It was cordial and effective.
Oh, and my friend's BBQ seemed made in house. It was memorable. Lighter, more vinegar than ketchup, more honey than pepper.
The only thing I would have changed, is that my sandwich would have come in a basket as well. I'll take the red-checkered wax paper lined red food basket over the dull cream colored diner scratch plate, any time I have the choice.
Everyone likes eating out of a basket.
Throw the seasoning on top of the deeper fried steaks fries, maybe a different fry oil, pop them in a basket next to the tasty sandwich.
Boom, now you're keeping up with...
