I went back on today to get a catalytic converter after having them to change out the coil packs and spark plugs on last week (tune up). I've always thought he was honest and kind which is why I've been taking my work cars to him for the last 6 years. Today, after I simply asked him how much was the actual catalytic converter because a friend of mine is a mechanic, CARLOS WENT COMPLETELY OFF ON ME! He referred to my SUV as a 'little' car and said I was wasting him time in so many words. Truth is, he was overcharging me for the catalytic converter and install and the fact that I asked him for the name and brand is what caused him to fly off the handle! It was his guilt because he planned to charged me $650 total and said he was giving me a discount. He was trying to get over on me again like he's probably done in the past. I didn't ask to see or retrieve my old spark plugs or coil packs because I TRUSTED HIM! So today, things went left and today is the last time he'll be able to get over on me. Beware, if a person gets anxious because you simply ask questions, they're hiding something. The guys that work at his shop, Fernando, and Danny (I believe is his name) are really nice guys. Too bad, they had to witness the argument between Carlos...
Read moreI can't recommend this car shop highly enough! The mechanics here are some of the most honest, fair, and friendly individuals I've ever encountered. I've been bringing my car here for years, and I'm incredibly grateful for their kindness and integrity.
For instance, I once took my car to Kwick Kar on Fitzhugh for an inspection. They told me my car passed but claimed I needed a front-end brake job and quoted me an outrageous price. I decided to get a second opinion at Brake Stop, where I received a much more reasonable quote along with excellent service.
Another time, my car was bouncing when I started it. I dropped off the keys and left the car in the lot at the brake stop. The next morning, Carlos called to inform me that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle; a plastic bag had somehow gotten stuck in the engine.
I can't emphasize enough the honesty and integrity of this shop. They truly care about...
Read moreI was visiting Dallas and my car broke down in Dallas on New Years Day. I "knew" it was a bad alternator, so I bought an alternator and tried to fix it myself. It turned out to be too difficult with the tools I had, so I asked my son, who lives in Dallas, for a shop recommendation. He recommended Brake Stop, so we had it towed there and I went back home (Houston area). When they opened on Monday, i called and Carlos said he would take a look at it. He called back and said the alternator was fine, but the battery had a bad cell and wouldn't charge. They could have easily charged me hundreds of dollars for an alternator job and new battery, but they were HONEST and just replaced the battery. What a refreshing experience! I highly...
