I'm not Catholic myself, but I feel it's important to share a safety concern regarding the parishioners and visitors at this church. Today, I attended a mass service with a relative, and after the service, we waited for the gift shop to reopen. While I was sitting on the stairs taking a call, I noticed an individual who appeared to be homeless wandering nearby. A woman then approached me and asked if I knew when the gift shop would open. I told her it would open at 1 PM.
When it was 1 PM, I went to check out the gift shop and then returned upstairs to the right door of the cathedral. I found the same woman there, and behind her was the homeless man. She looked very scared and told me that he had been following her around the church. To ensure her safety, we me and my sister escorted her to her car. To the staff of cathedral or Guadalupe in Dallas, . I believe it might be beneficial for the staff to monitor the surroundings more closely and consider measures that prioritize the safety of...
Read moreThe church itself is beautiful, the choirs are great, the churchgoers are typically very friendly. My family went to this church when my siblings and I were kids and I have recently started coming back to mass here these past couple of years. My only real con for this church? The priests! Mainly one or two in particular. If you are remotely left-leaning I don’t recommend going to one of Fr Ricardo Reyes’ masses. On multiple occasions I have wanted to walk out during his sermons but I remember that I am not going to mass bc of him. That being said, I’m genuinely considering not coming to this church if he is the one giving mass. I understand a bit of doom, gloom, and damnation has to be talked about, but fear-mongering about an upcoming “persecution against Catholics” is a bit...
Read morePeople here are so rude. I came today with a friend looking for a detail in the gift shop and was close even when the paper says time are Tuesday until 6:00 (it was 5:30). We were looking for some one to ask and this gentleman Pedro Reyes (if you could call him like that) came and was really bad, rude, unprofessional, etc. No one in a Church where you want people to come, pray and be a community, is supposed to act like that. My friend believes he was deaf because he was aking him about the store hours and he never answered, so he raised his voice and he continues ignoring us. He was really impolite. This is the second opportunity I give to this place but not anymore. As a catholic it's completely unacceptable and I'm not coming again. So bad for our...
