Update: Went there, now two days later. They opened at 11am and I was there at 11am. First, the doctor who saw me only works Thursdays and Fridays so she wasn't there. Then the nurse practitioner who saw me kept asking me if I was using some sort of body wash. I had to tell her, repeatedly, that I was only using what they gave to me which was a topical Tazorac cream. She couldn't understand why I would have an allergic reaction over my body if I was just using it on my face. I am in tears as I try explaining to her the side effects of their own prescribed medicine are skin rash, skin sensitivity and birth defects to a fetus. If that's the case, why is it so hard to believe that it can cause a skin reaction for me? They then wanted me to pay for a doctor's visit since "billing said that because the rash is all over my body it counts as a separate visit." This place is expensive as it is, and I do not think this is fair. I left in tears. The lady at the front desk told me to call my doctor tomorrow (who will be at their Allen location) and see if she has any recommendations. Although my experience here is HORRIBLE, I will keep my review at two stars because my doctor was still friendly and the lady at the front desk was well-mannered as well. I DO NOT recommend this place or ZocDoc. STAY AWAY!!!
Went there a few days ago to get help with my acne which has gotten out of control for the past few months. I wasn't in the room for over 10 mins (my visit was extremely quick). The nurse practitioner seemed young and un-energetic. And the doctor, it wasn't doctor Rogers (who I thought I was seeing), instead it was another doctor who was very kind but sat far away and never touched my skin or took a good look at it. The closest they got to examining my skin was taking a picture of me with an iPad which I thought was uncomfortable. Anyway, they gave me a bag full of samples with directions I had to ask for. The nurse practitioner had to write them on the bag because there were no clear instructions on the tiny bottle samples. They sent me home with Tazorac. After the second night, I have a severe allergic reaction. I researched it and found it is not a medication for sensitive skin and I specifically told the doctor I have sensitive skin and am allergic to sunscreen which gives me skin allergies and penicillin, which also gives me skin allergies. So why they prescribed something that is not good for sensitive skin, IDK. She also said I needed to use a sunblock...but she didn't tell me any suggestions or give me a list or anything, only that "you need a sunscreen." I even had to ask for a list of makeup that she said I should be using. I read another review that said that it's like pulling information out of them...I agree; they aren't exactly jumping at the chance to prove they are there to help you. I am going to drive up there first thing tomorrow because hopefully they can get it right and prescribe me something to get rid of this rash I have all over my body that seems to now be spreading.
I would give them one star, but the front desk staff was OK and at least the doctor who saw me...
Read moreI am so upset to have to write this review. I truly believed that I had finally found a dermatologist's office who would be able to approach my skincare, as an African-American woman, with the cultural competency and cultural appropriateness needed.
Earlier this year, I was scheduled to have 2 injections done to clear lesions that had persisted on my chest for years and on my back for just a short period of time. The injections went well and the lesions cleared. However, I was told one single price on the first visit, I paid, and that the second visit would only be a co-pay. I was also told that I wouldn't have to pay for the actual injections (the actual medicine - Triamcinolone Acetonide). Now, months later I receive a bill that states the charges for these services must be paid, AND that these are late charges.
As a health professional, and a champion for patient navigation, I'm pissed! To say the very least. Health care coverage is already difficult enough to navigate without being lied to by your provider, so that they can later charge you a fee. I honestly believed I'd finally found a good dermatologist to hold onto.
And the best part is, the staffer I spoke with about my situation never offered an apology. When asked why I wasn't informed about these charges by the PA upon my initial visits, the administrator's response was "I have no idea." Not even an "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but XYZ".
Needless to say, I've canceled my upcoming appointment & will be taking my business elsewhere.
Update: I just received the release form to have my medical records released to me - vaguest health care release form I've ever seen. There is no list of what types of records are housed in their offices. There's only a few blanks to write in what you want released to you. Now, if I were a lay person, I wouldn't know what to request. Thank...
Read moreI initially had an appointment 2 months ago with the nurse practioner regaring the service that would smooth out my skin which suffers ice pick acne scars. I was seen for all of 5 minutes after a 40 minute wait. The nurse practioner sat far from me did not exam my skin.. or ask my history, just advised I could pay 1700 for fraxel. I decided to move foward, it took me 2 weeks to speak with someone who could set up my appointment because the assoicates were unknowledgable about the process. I was told I needed to speak with a nurse, they would call me.. they never did I called back constantly. No one saw me to evaluate how many treaments I may need, prior to taking my money. I was told to pay for a skin bleaching cream, and make an appointment a month out. I did so, 2 weeks before that appointment, that was a MONTH out, I was called and advised my nurse practioner had decided to take off that day...I need to reschedule. I am extremely disappointed I have been patient, concerned about my skin and the expensive services I seek to correct it, yet I have not been thorougly helped by this office. I expressed my issues to the associate who called to reschedule me, no one contacted me to recify the situation. I am praying I can get a refund for my 250 deposit, I'm planning a wedding God knows I cant afford to throw the money away, I wanted smooth skin.. when I married my husband.. I dont know if that will...
