About a week ago I attempted to email Square one both through their email and also through Instagram and received no response. This was my email:
Hello, I wanted to send an email about my experience before I left a rating. Last weekend, I had an appointment at 3 for a special event styling. I asked for vintage Hollywood style waves and provided reference photos. I personally know how these are usually done and itās not easy so I made an appointment with you so I could ensure it was done right. I also specifically asked for volume and a long hold. Unfortunately this stylist did not have the first clue how to do waves and instead of being transparent about this, she completely ruined my hair. She used no heat protector and didnāt even so much as comb it though first. She just coiled my hair up and began doing these sad flat looking waves. I guess ābeachyā waves would be the best way to describe it? I looked like a soggy cocker spaniel. I hoped this was just some kind of prep but given the lack of any actual prep this was unlikely. I was was sitting there frozen with shock at how absolutely terrible my hair looked and eventually bolted before I could start crying in public. I had to rinse it out and do my hair myself and it made me an hour late getting to my event venue. There were no classic style waves, but itās unsettling that I was able to create a look that was leaps and bounds above what I paid for using a $30 curler and intuition. I paid $86 for professional expertise, instead I got a person who did not even have a basic understanding of how heat curls work. I expected so much better from such a well established business. I am writing this in hope they we can reach a resolution of some kind.
My appointment was scheduled for 9/28/24 at 3pm, unfortunately I never got a name from the stylist.
update it is now November 9th and despite the comment below, no one has made any attempt to contact me, respond to my email, or correct the situation in anyway...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām so sad to leave this review but Iām really disappointed and not for the first time.
Mens cuts are not a strong suit here even by a āmasterā stylist which I found out from my stylist today that doesnāt even mean their skill level is superior rather there are multiple factors including financial metrics tied to that title such as selling product that can allow you to grow within the company as a master stylist. Which Iām all for promotion and growth but I think as a consumer that title is misleading. There was no mastery in my cut today.
Where shall we begin? The stylist was 15 min late to the appointment. Because she was arguing with her boyfriend about Halloween plans. I was in ear shot the whole time but did not know she was my stylist. As a result I had to cancel my following facial due to her tardiness. She neither acknowledged her tardiness to myself nor to the facilitist who subsequently lost tip from what should have been a service with me.
On top of being late we also waited around for 5-10 minutes at the hair washing station and she said we had to stand there waiting or else if we sat back down weād loose our place and have to stand waiting all over again and itās happened to her before. So she had me stand there while she went and did god knows what. She didnāt even use conditioner and I have hair all over my ears even tho she shampooed me after my cut.
Then to Top it all off. I told her the fade and blending of my neck line is my biggest pet peeve. I wanted it blended to the skin. I even had her go back around my ears and she never showed me the back. She went on to tell me a story how some of her clients think their hair can do anything and she said no sorry thatās the way your hair just isā¦.NO GIRL THATS JUST THE WAY YOUR SKILL LEVEL IS NOT!!!!
I swear she is the laziest stylist Iāve ever come across in my life. Iām so sad I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my second appointment. Iām new to the date in the area and, when I booked my first appointment at the salon, the tier pricing was explained to me in great detail so that I could make an informed decision about what I could afford. I was scheduled with Kara and when I came for that first appointment, I was absolutely wowed from the moment I walked in. Today I had my 2nd appointment with a different stylist. I am a teacher and have been engrossed with getting my classroom in order for the new school year and have just come off of a two week intensive training. When I called yesterday to book the second appointment, I had forgotten all about the tier pricing. The scheduler didnāt say a word to me about it, just asked me if I could come today at 5 oāclock. So I came to the salon today, the stylist and I had an amazing interaction, and then when I went to pay I was told it would be $160. I almost passed out as my jaw dropped to the floor. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for in this life but I have never paid $160 for a haircut in my entire life. I feel disappointed and I feel even more deceived. The expectation should have been set when I called yesterday to make that appointment but I was not paid the respect of being able to make a well-informed decision. The lack of full disclosure has now placed me in a difficult financial situation. That is so unfair. I stood there at the counter and handed over my card and paid for the service with grace. At the same time, I could barely breathe. This was handled poorly and is wrong on so many levels. This only benefited the salon, not me. I wonāt be coming back and I will take this up with the Better Business Bureau and wherever else I can review the salon to ensure that other people arenāt shanked like I was today. Thank you for reading a review I should never have needed to write....
