If you like buying movies, this is the place for you. If you like buying video games, this is the place for you. If you like buying music, this is the place for you. If you like buying collectibles - you guessed it - this is the place for you!
My friend Joe and I decided to spend the afternoon browsing the, seemingly endless, aisles at Movie Trading Company. You see, Joe has age-related macular degeneration, meaning he doesn't see very well. He has a cotton ball eye patch over one of his eyes, and his vision in the other eye is going quick. Stores like this give people like my friend Joe the opportunity to waltz down the rows of media with that overwhelming sensation of nostalgia.'
Joe and I met at our local video store years and years ago, but it wasn't able to keep up with the times, so it was shut down during the peak of our friendship. I can't even tell you where my friend Joe came from, it was just one day of browsing the horror section, and we immediately hit it off. Joe and I are the same age, but he never went to school with us. He seriously just came out of nowhere and instantly became the biggest blessing in my life.
Stores like this allow me to look at my friend, and more importantly look back on our friendship. The joy we felt today was unmatched. Suddenly, just like that, my friend Joe was lost in the store. There are just too many things to shop for, and I mean that in the best way possible. As I couldn't find my partially blind friend, I started looking back on our entire friendship. All I could ask myself was - "Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, Cotton Eye Joe?"
That is the type of magic this place provides. The staff was nice, and their music selection that was playing in the store was both equally terrifying...
Read moreMovie trading company, who’s slogan is Buy, Sell & Trade… well apparently they don’t do trades… I’m not sure why they’re called the movie trading company if they don’t do trades… I called them yesterday to see if they would do a straight trade. I wanted to trade them Far Cry 6 for Far Cry Primal (I would be on the losing end of this deal) and the dude said they’d be able to do it. I drive all the way up there just for them to tell me they don’t do trades and that the only thing they could do is buy my game. They offered me $7 for a brand new game that they told me they would sell for $52. They had Far Cry Primal for $16. They really wouldn’t trade a $60 game for a $16 game and offered me $7 for it. So they wanted to rip me off for a brand new game and still buy the old game for $16. It would of been a win win for them to just trade it since it was a brand new game for an older game but instead they lost a customer. I literally went to game stop right down the street and they did the...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star believe me I would. Good place to buy movies, etc. but TERRIBLE place to try and sell your things to. The sign says they won't rip you off and they'll give you your money's worth but that's just a lie. I went in today with my boyfriend to sell 2 complete movie sets(5 in each), a 3 movie set, and a collector edition movie set. All of which are worth $20 or more each. Keep in mind they were throwing stuff at us that they didn't want. And to top it off they offered $13.00 cash. Are you serious?! We politely said no and the person helping us, (Ben) storms off and doesn't say another word and starts doing something else. Great customer service. We have to gather all of our stuff up he threw everywhere and leave without even a "have a nice day" or even a smile. He acted like we wasted his time when it's his JOB to examine stuff before they give a price. He's constantly rude when we go in to shop, or try to sell. Just terrible...
