I was going to give one star because the lady in the picture frame department saw me waiting to speak to her, and instead of realizing that she was going to spend more than an hour with her current customer, she could have been calling someone over to help her, so that I'm not standing around for an hour...needless to say I was feeling pretty ignored and disrespected...I went to the front of the store and interrupted another employees texting time, by telling her to call a Manager over and let her know that I'm pretty pissed off...and she did so...I'm not usually a "karen" (which I find to be a stupid expression, justifying today's lazy employees)...and I have never in my life had such a bad experience, immediately followed up with an equal but opposite experience...certainly not one to change my 1 star review to a 5 star review...I was cussing up a blue streak because it was eating up my time I spend with my son....but here it is. The next thing I know a pretty young lady named Carlie comes over to me with a serious look of concern on her face, and a unique shade of purple hair...Long story short, Carlie bent over backwards for me effortlessly and without any hesitation...she got involved with my project, and most importantly made me feel valuable to her...she was everything I look for in MY employees...Michael's may lose her to me soon...she was so good at what she did that I thought about her all day...it's rare that I meet a young store manager that knows her way around a volatile situation, but this girl has that "it" factor that simply cannot be taught...I was so impressed with her that I'm still (3 days later) replaying her dominant professionalism in my head...She seemed kind of young to be the store Manager, but in absolutely no way overmatched for the role...she was professional, personable, caring, understanding, and if all of those traits weren't enough, she was beautiful too...Michael's seriously needs to promote this person immediately...otherwise I will find a place for her working for me...if you can't succeed with people like Carlie working for you, then you need to go out of business all together....hey Powers that be (at Michael's corporate office), I'm not one to waste my time writing good reviews, because I believe that all business experiences SHOULD be positive ones anyway...but this is a situation that deserves a positive review....I saw the face of absolute perfect customer service behavior, and it belonged to Carlie....do the right thing...reward her...or lose her to someone who will...I have absolutely zero conscience about stealing employees of...
Read moreBe careful if you need to return an online purchase here. The woman who “helped” me basically insinuated that I was trying to run a scam on her. There was some kind of error when scanning my barcode from the email, so she interpreted it as “looks like it’s already been returned”!! She went to scan the barcode on the item itself and made a point to say beforehand she didn’t think they even carry the item (of course it came up that they did, I had the email proving it). There was still some kind of error on her end, and basically she was like well I can’t help you guess you’ll just have to send it back. At this point I had already thrown away all the packaging and as it was an odd shaped item, that wasn’t an option. I asked about a receipt-less option, store credit anything to get this situation over with (the item was only $16!) and she said “we don’t do receipt-less returns.” Which is an obvious lie, that she soon got caught in when her manager finally came over and did the return that way. This happened almost a week ago now and I am still bothered enough to write a review online. I have never, ever been treated this way by another human being, and would never think of treating someone like that myself. Reflects poorly on the...
Read moreMichael's has now added self-checkout so that I can do the work of a cashier, even when there are no other customers. Just went to checkout, was the only customer, and the cashier directed me to the self-checkout since I was paying by card. The self-checkout layout was not intuitive. The bags are under the counter on the right side of the checkout, and there is no lower level to place your items in the bag after scanning. So I inadvertently scanned the same item twice. Took two employees to fix it, no ease-of-use involved.
An intuitive design would involve scanning the item to the left, placing it in a bag and then storing it in your cart. Instead, you scan your item to the left, have to bring it back to the right, pray it didn’t scan the item again, dig for a sack under the counter on the right, place it on the counter, scan the next item and follow the same steps, until you get back to the bag that has now collapsed so you must fumble with it again. Stupid layout.
Once I finally get done, I go to return my basket and the cashier runs over to intercept me so she can wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe. Where was that enthusiasm when I was needing someone to check me out? Ridiculous and no...
