Candymaker Candy Store — Attraction in Destin

So their chocolate covered apples are delicious! But wasn't very happy with the customer service from the owners- or the absence of.

I was recommended to use their store to have custom made shells for my wedding cake to be make for my wedding on April 25. I originally placed the order March 4. A owner was supposed to call me to quote me for the order. I never heard anything from anyone so on March 24/25 I spoke with Jon and asked if they could provide colored pictures of chocolate shells made in the past if he had any to make sure they were the correct colors. On March 28, I emailed Jon(manager) as well as spoke to him on the phone about decreasing the amount/changing color of shells to white and adding bubbles for the cake. He said it would be no problem and was very friendly. On April 4- I received an email stating the owners would no longer do my order because I reduced it multiple times (which in reality I only changed the size of the order once and had I known it was a big deal and they would cancel my order I wouldn't have done it). In fact, I would have even paid the same price. The email also stated to email the owners if I had any questions. I emailed the owners with no response and I even called and left a message with not only a manager, but another customer service rep to have the owner call me and no response!!

The fact that I live 14.5 hours from destin Florida where my wedding will be and for them to do this without even calling me is subpar seeing as my wedding is in 12 days!!

I just feel that if you are doing a customer order- beware of ordering from this company!! I have saved all the emails between myself and this company if anyone is questioning ordering from them.

It's a shame because their chocolate is really good!

So now I have had to order from someone online and am hoping they come not broken/melted since it is so last minute!! Way to add stress to...

I used to love Candymaker when they were located at Destin Commons. Was always sad they moved out of that location. I took my kids there for several years for the caramels and taffy’s. I live out in Navarre and was driving through Destin yesterday to get some Christmas decorations. As I was driving I saw a Candymaker billboard and decided to make a detour. I bought a lot of taffy’s, a couple bags of caramels and a few different flavors of jelly belly’s. The taffy’s are like half the size as they used to be. Some pieces were even smaller than that. In addition, the taffy is very hard, almost like it’s been sitting out for a long time. They are still delicious though. The caramels were always good and still are. The jelly belly’s I think are old. I’ve never had a hard jelly belly until yesterday. The kids won’t even touch them. I will definitely come back, but I will wait until the summer when it’s busy season and there is a higher...

Ordered coffee came out 10 minutes later and there are only 2 other tables. No silverware and had to yell out for service to get silverware. When they brought silverware, they were 1 set short. Son wanted fruit dish - they were out. Just a bad experience. Don’t know why rating is so high, yet no cars in the parking lot when others have half to full parking lots. We are 20 minutes in and still no food. Again, only 2 tables apart from ours. Talked to the manager, who was upset at me, so I asked her if she knew what the issue was, to which she replied “yeah - you don’t like how the orange was cut” ... amazing. She then called the GM- he was sorry for the experience, new employees. Apart from the experience, suggestion: get at least one thing on the menu where you have bacon eggs and pancakes together... you can get pancakes and bacon, but pay for eggs extra... just make a dish and charge the $14 it would...
