READ BEFORE BOOKING! I came here on a vacation trip with my family, had 3 rooms and this place was awful! There are so many problems with this place it's hard to decide where to begin, so I guess I'll start with what I noticed first. The hallways reek and are set to a stifling 77°F. The hallways have a general musty smell, but there was a strong marijuana stench the entire time that management needs to do something about. The rooms are just okay. There's nothing special about them, nothing particularly good or bad, they are just the bare minimum, similar to a room at a cheap motel. upon entering the room the first thing I noticed was that there was a plastic water bottle sitting on top of the window air conditioning unit so these rooms are definitely not thoroughly cleaned. The bathrooms are a comfortable size but there was a number of problems. The bathtub DID NOT come with a BATHTUB STOPPER in ANY of our 3 ROOMS! According to management "the bathrooms don't come with bathtub stoppers because people steal them." Who steals a bathtub stopper? Anyways, we asked for a bathtub stopper on the first day and they said we could get one in the morning because only management has the key to the storage room. We asked for 3 days and only 1 of our 3 rooms ended up getting a bathtub stopper. We have small children who prefer baths and it's absolutely ridiculous that the bathroom didn't come with one in the first place. That is unheard of. The bathroom has mold under the soap holder in the bath, the showerhead has limescale and buildup, and the sink faucet was dripping and leaking the entire stay. There is no continuity between the hotel rooms when it comes to the amenities either. Our room had a very tiny mini fridge, and another had a huge one. Our air conditioner was cracked and only went down to 61 while the others went down to 60. It's very disappointing that the rooms are so different because it means that even though we all paid the same price that others had better things than us which doesn't seem fair in the pricing. The breakfast was disgusting and definitely not the quality that you would expect from a "Continental breakfast". They also say they have a rotating menu, but that doesn't seem to be true since it was the same everyday. All they really have are gross eggs, hard biscuits, nasty gravy, apples, oranges, and waffles. The issue is NOT that the options were the same, it's that the food was bad quality. McDonald's has better tasting food. The hot tub was lukewarm. The shower water was hotter, but it didn't really matter since there was no bathtub stopper. The pools were fine besides people smoking marijuana out there with children around. The gym actually has only 2 machines which was weird. There was a storm that knocked the power out and it broke my father's CPAP machine. That shouldn't happen just from the power going out and it was actually brand new. The tvs had issues as well. 1 of the tvs was fine, the 2nd had no signal, and the 3rd only had news channels. The towel station by the pools was never stocked and the towel return was overflowing constantly into the floor, becoming a sopping wet mess. The elevator is extremely slow and feels unsafe. The stairs are faster but they're even hotter than the hallways. our hotel rooms had some strange sort of red balls/pellets in the room. I'm not sure what they were but they looked like BB pellets. To summarize, this hotel does not feel safe it's dirty, and reeks of marijuana. Upon check in you have to put down a $100 security deposit which is ridiculous considering the quality of this establishment. I have stayed in Destin Florida several times and I am appalled by the standard the management has set for this location. I will never come back to this hotel. Stay at the Homewood suites next door, it's around the same price, safe, has great breakfast & comfy beds, and is clean! The front desk & cleaning staff were friendly but the management here is a joke. I hope this detailed review helps someone save $475, please see the photos and...
Read moreI wish my experience was much better. This is the email sent to Mistelle the general manager. She will not respond to the email nor my numerous phone calls. This was room 401
Good afternoon,
I recently stayed at your esteemed hotel from May 10th to May 12th, 2024, and regrettably, my experience was marred by several unfortunate incidents which I feel compelled to address.
Upon my arrival at 2:08 pm, I requested an early check-in, as previously advised during a prior phone call. However, the front desk attendant, whose name I did not ascertain, informed me that no rooms were available and instructed me to return at 2:45 pm. When I reiterated the information provided to me earlier, her response, "If we had rooms available, don't you think I would take the $50," displayed a concerning lack of customer service professionalism.
Despite patiently waiting in the lobby, observing other guests being promptly accommodated, it wasn't until later that we were assigned a room. Subsequently, upon returning from an outing, I discovered the balcony strewn with discarded cigarette-related items, necessitating notification to the front desk for prompt resolution.
Furthermore, upon our return to the room later in the evening, I was dismayed to find it inadequately cleaned. My subsequent request for a new room, addressed by CJ, was accommodated for the following day, albeit with an inconvenient delay until 2 pm, due to a late checkout request.
This delay impinged upon scheduled family activities, and despite expressing my concerns to Heather, I was met with limited alternatives beyond leaving personal belongings at the front desk, an option I found unsatisfactory. This interaction left me emotionally distressed, and my overall vacation experience was compromised.
Compounding matters, housekeeping entered our room without request, resulting in the inadvertent disposal of personal belongings, notably a gift belonging to my daughter. Despite reporting the incident promptly, no satisfactory explanation or resolution was provided, leaving me with no choice but to vacate the premises immediately, as concerns for my family's safety arose.
As a long-anticipated guest, the transformation of my stay into a distressing ordeal was deeply disappointing for both myself and my children. To address these grievances and restore confidence in your establishment, I am requesting compensation totaling for the stolen or discarded items, and a full refund for the entirety of my stay. Furthermore, I suggest that Heather undergoes comprehensive management training to enhance her ability to effectively manage customer complaints and ensure a more positive guest experience in the future.
I trust that you will address these matters promptly and effectively to uphold the reputation and standards of your esteemed establishment. Please advise on the next steps to facilitate resolution and...
Read moreFirst, the front desk staff, breakfast staff and other staff we came in contact with were very kind and professional. The checkin—We rented a Deluxe Queen Suite with 2 queen beds on Priceline; however, when we arrived, we received a room with a king bed and sofa. We went to the front desk and questioned why we’re not given the 2 queen bed suite. Apparently, something was wrong with their booking system, and we along with several others were given the wrong room assignment. The problem—all of the queen rooms had been booked by others. I want to say the front desk staff -Leah and I can’t remember the other girl’s name, they were amazing. They did everything in their power to try to resolve the situation. They even tried calling other guest who had not yet arrived to see if they needed the 2 beds or if they could move them to a king suite-to no avail. We needed 2 beds as we had 4 people and didn’t really want a sofa bed. They did offer to move us to the Days Inn further down the road that had a room with 2 queen beds, but we declined as we wanted to be able to walk to the beach. I’m glad we chose to stay at Summerplace b/c when we drove by Days Inn later, it looked really run down. We told them that we would just keep the assigned room and they said they would try to move us into a room with double beds the next day, which we declined because it’s too much hassle to move. I’m a clean freak and it doesn’t matter the hotel, I bring Clorox wipes and clean everything from the bathroom to the doorknobs/light switches etc. We also check for bed bugs—no signs of that either. So after doing all that, I have no interest in moving rooms and having to repeat all that. As a side note, my Clorox wipes did appear clean as I cleaned. The whole checkin process was longer than we had anticipated due to being assigned the wrong room. The hotel did refund us $25 for us never getting the room we booked. I felt they could have done better, but hey it paid for us to get Donuts at the Donut Hole—because the breakfast at this hotel is horrible. The lady working the area was super nice, but we ended up not eating the breakfast. They had limited offerings-toast, bagels, waffles with just syrup, eggs which were gritty, and sausage that just was not good and oranges.
Hotel public area- the lobby was nice and clean from what I saw. The gym is not really a gym, imo. It has one bike and one treadmill in a tiny, tiny room. We did not use the pools, but the pools looked okay;however, they were small. We were there for the beach though, not the pool. There is only one elevator and it can be slow if someone is going up and you need to go down. We took the stairs a few times and it was fine for us. We never smelled weed at the hotel, but we pretty much were only there to sleep.
In depth room review below. Overall, the hotel was clean, gave us a place to sleep. We’d probably...
