Fort Washington Garage — Local services in Detroit

Do NOT public park here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Run away!!!!

Note: I am not from the City- do not normally work in the city, and very rarely come to the city because I work in Ann Arbor.

Came to Detroit to work as a planner on a wedding at 151 W Fort Street, which is two short blocks from this structure. I pulled in at 4 PM on a Saturday. The attendant waved to me and I parked my car. There were lots of other cars in the garage.

At 9:30 PM when I came to retrieve my car, the parking structure was completely locked up, there was no attendant, and I had no way to retrieve my car. Any phone number I called for the structure was useless.

No one mentioned upon my entrance that the structure closes at 9 PM and is supposedly not open on the weekends —-even though it was open on Saturday for me to park.

It cost me $60 to drive home in an Uber. Now I have to call off work on Monday to take another $60 Uber back to retrieve my car and pay God knows how much to get my car out of the structure.

And people wonder why no one wants to do business in the city of Detroit.

Don’t park in this parking structure unless you have time and money to just throw...

I went to have dinner with friends downtown and parked here. I come back around 10 pm to get my car, and the garage is locked and sealed up. The attendant did not say they will close at a certain time, and there are no signs indicating they close at a certain time. I was stranded in Detroit at night and had to Uber home. I go back on Sunday to pick up my car and it was still locked. I guess I have to go back on Monday and miss work to get my car. The phone number they have listed doesn’t answer phones over the weekend. This is horrible. I can’t believe I paid 20$...

This is a great garage for weekday meetings downtown. It’s never too full, though if it is they do double park, but it’s never been something I’ve run into. There are a handful of reviews mentioning that it closed and they could not retrieve their car, but the garage hours are clearly stated upon entry.
