London Chophouse delivers on so many levels, the menu is stellar and the vibes are even better! Be sure to ask about the rich history of this restaurant while enjoying some live musics and incredible food! #finedining #steak #seafood #detroit

LCH is my ultimate fine dining go to! Tonight was my third time visiting, and they still set the bar high!!! They called us in advance to make sure we were aware of their dress code! Their door coach, Dorian, was happily welcoming! The hostess who checked our coats in was personable! The jazz music and the slightly dim lightning created a nice relaxing ambiance!!! The food was soul shaking! Our hostess for the evening was Stephanie! Job well done, Stephanie!!! For our drinks, my boo bear ordered a margarita, which he said was "perfect", and I ordered a grenadine and sprite (a Shirley Temple), which was tasty. Our starter was the Slow Roasted Pork Belly (pork belly on drizzled tamarind syrup, coconut and ginger reduction, & topped with celery leaf and cinnamon carrots that resembled flakes). Our main entrees and sides were a la carte! So, I ordered the Double Cut Lamb Chops (lamb chops seasoned/cooked with tomato jam, sherry and pearl veal reduction, and fresh rosemary. Those lambs chops were so tender, it came right off the bone with my knife!! My boo bear ordered the 6 oz. filet mignon cooked medium! Deliciously seasoned to perfection! Our sides were the Brussel Sprouts with Bacon Sweet Potato and Maple, the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and the Mahon Reserva Mac & Cheese! Looks definitely deceived us on the brussel sprouts, as we initially thought it was slightly burned. Boy were we wrong! They were flakey and a mouth full of life! Not a single crisp was burnt, but was bursting with flavor! The garlic mash were nice and smooth! The macaroni was a delicacy, as well! We ordered our desserts to go! I ordered the Double Chocolate Dome (A chocolate truffle filled chocolate dome with encrusted nuts at it's base, with a raspberry sauce, and shaved/rolled marbled chocolate). My boo bear ordered the Peach Cobbler Cheesecake. Now my boo bear hates cheesecake in general, but for some reason his love for peach cobbler led him to trying it! HE LOVED IT!!! London Chop House is fine dining in it's purest form! We will be back soon!

I selected LCH to celebrate by 49th birthday on 09-04-2019 with 2 dear friends of mine and thought this would be an extraordinary experience for all us - especially since we were all 1st time visitors. To prepare for this great expectation I was hoping to enjoy from LCH, I about starved myself for 2 days so I could thoroughly embrace what should have been an elegant, accommodating and smooth dining encounter. The PROS:

  1. We arrived about 7:05 p.m. and were seated immediately but to be honest we had reservations
  2. The jazz singer and guitarist were pleasant to listen to
  3. The ambiance and mood of LCH was relaxing and tranquil
  4. Arrival of MY salad and appetizer, taste and texture was decent
  5. After reviewing the food and drink menu ( within 10-12 minutes), we were able to place our orders rather promptly - about 7:20- 7:25p.m. The manager agreed to remove a food item that was very dis-satisfactory
  6. All of the food I ordered was scrumptious.

The CONS:

  1. None of our entrees arrived until after 8 p.m. - Friend #1 had an Iceberg Salad along with 3 shrimps and a hard-boiled egg; Friend #2 had a Ribeye steak, Salmon w/Asparagus; I had Shrimp with Lake Perch w/ Mac & Chz.
  2. A table with guest of 6 ppl were serviced before we were. To make matters worse, we had waited approximately additional 10-15 minutes after they were served. Moreover, we had to ask the waitress what was taking so long vs. her coming to tell us there was a delay with our orders
  3. A table with guest of 3 came after us and these gentlemen had their food within 40 minutes after they arrived. By the time we left, they were nearly finished with their meal.
  4. The Ribeye steak Friend #2 ordered was so hard he could barely cut it with the STEAK knife. He cut a corner to try it. The steak was so tough, he couldn't chew it. So it was sent back and removed off the bill.

Between all of us Friend #1 and #2 vowed they would NEVER return. LCH service was so bad, Friend #1 asked if I checked their reviews prior to me reserving a table here. From their perspective the lack of customer service and the delivery of their food was so reprehensible neither one wants to spend money there or invite anyone they know to spend their money either. For me, I have mixed feelings because I enjoyed my meal, once I received it. But I did not like I had to track my food down. When a restaurant is asking for $75 for a piece of meat, you expect them to deliver world class service, service so exceptional, they are teaching other restaurateurs how to emulate LCH.

The total bill was $197. In my opinion, LCH prices do not reflect their performance nor ability to work with a sense of urgency. I think the first thing to remember is that when ppl are coming to this type of restaurant, or any restaurant, keep in mind, customers are hungry and is in great anticipation of being able to eat within a certain amount of time.

LCH dropped the ball considerably - with us.

The fact the "owner" could post such a negative response to my perception of my experience at LCH, distinctively shows he/she/it has a lot a room for growth with this establishment, mentally, emotionally and spiritually -...

Upon arrival we were greeted by their doorman which was a wonderful touch. Then we head downstairs where we awkwardly stood in the way while not really being welcomed. While we waited to be greeted/coats checked we could hear a screaming baby in the employee area. Not the end of the world but the other couple was trying to enjoy a kids free night.

Server I think was new. He seemed very nervous, didn’t tell us anything about the London Chop House, was very polite but not very warm.

We inquired about caviar service and the server came back telling us what him and the chef found on google about that nights caviar selection... needless to say we went another route.

We ordered starters- Fried Calamari, shrimp Cocktail and a salad. All were fantastic. But our server never really checked on us.

During this time we noticed several things- when other guests got up to use the restroom, someone would come fold their napkin and put it on their seat... not once for us. Other servers were refilling their tables wine glasses... not for us.

Note- this ‘high-end’ steakhouse doesn’t crumb the table for you.

Then our food comes. I see a food runner bring up a tray of food but our server is no where to be found so the runner sat with the food for a couple mins before bringing it over and asking who has what. They brought two sides and one steak. Then another couple minutes later the rest of the food.

My 10 oz fillet was drastically undercooked, but if I order medium-rare and then it arrives Pittsburg I’m not gonna send it back. And it was pretty tasty, just a bit undercooked to the point of being warm not hot.

My wife on the other hand ordered her NY strip medium well and it came rare. Well, after sending it back a 2nd time it was just a mess, mangled and cut into multiple pieces. She barely ate it. They did take it off the bill so I’ll give them that.

Our sides were mixed. Mac and cheese was good. Mashed potatoes were very dense and not creamy in anyway. Brussels sprouts were tasty.

Then after all of that, we passed on dessert and it took over 40 minutes to get the bill. They also didn’t clear our plates until we got the bill.

I work with a lot of chefs from all over the country, I’m a reality tv producer working on Food Network competition shows. All the chefs tell us they strive to make their guests feel taken care of... in no way did we feel taken care of or that anyone cared that we were there. 2 stars because most of the food tasted good but at almost $500 we all left feeling very unhappy.

Last note- I’ve noticed the owner leaves snarky comments on bad reviews. Please, let me know...
