Horrendous. While the food was perfectly edible, with everything else factored in - Sugah Please was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory.
We were seated and attended to quickly enough, and our server was amicable - but everything after that went downhill drastically. We got our orders in, and then wait started and I don't think it ever ended. Just as it was becoming noticeable, our server returned to ask what each of us ordered and finally offer us some water refills. Slightly worrisome, but we carried on, excited for some tasty brunch. After even more waiting, 2 (of the 6 or so dishes) finally arrived: a luke warm, dry french toast and some thin, tepid looking fried tomatoes. We had to wait even more before we were able to hail down another server (or runner, or dishwasher, who knows) to even get silverware to actually eat with, along with some syrup and napkins. The sense that there was some chaos behind the scenes was palpable, but never acknowledged. A shift change, abrupt departures, who knows - an explanation was never offered.
I had ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, but the french toast I received was a bog standard french toast with a meager squirt of overly tangy icing. Are we drizzling icing on some bread and calling it a cinnamon roll now? Turns out I must have gotten someone else's order because after even more waiting, out came the actual Cinnamon Roll French Toast, suprise! The real deal was two stoggy, seemingly store-bought cinnamon rolls stacked on one another. They may have been lightly toasted prior to stacking, but a bit of a puzzle as to what qualified them as "french toast". We also were finally delivered a Po-Boy (somehow missing the aioli) w/ fries and some house potatoes. The fries that came with the sandwich looked good, I'll give them that.
At this point we had resigned to not getting the rest in any reasonable time, so we cancelled the several missing dishes and split what we had gotten amongst the table and proceeded to hoping our check would come so we could just be done with it. We waited more while tried to make light of it with our fellow patrons that were also left wondering where their food, refills, napkins, etc. might be. It was becoming comical at this point.
It took asking for the owner/manager (not to complain, just to GET THE CHECK), twice before she finally came by. To call her demeanor dismissive would be charitable. Maybe she's embarassed by the way her operation is run, but she barely even made eye contact while curtly offering her phone over to request payment for the sub-par provisions. And like that, she was gone, apparently this is so par for the course it didn't even warrant comment. I don't fault the serving staff for any of this, from that interaction it seemed pretty clear that they're just making due with the crappy hand dealt by the bosses.
Save your money, but more importantly,...
Read moreI was excited to try this place based on what I've seen on socials. My girlfriend and I went at around 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. It wasn't very busy, but the restaurant seemed short staffed. We ordered drinks and our food not too long after being seated. The server went to the bar and put in our drink order to which the Payson behind the bar started that they didn't know how to make the drink that I ordered. The server and the person behind the bar (not a bar tender) went back and forth about who was going to make my drink. They made my girlfriends drink but left it sitting out at the bar for almost 10 min. I had to polony out to the server that the drink had just been sitting there, and she said yeah "I was going to bring the drinks tougher together, we're still trying to make yours." She brings her drink to the table, we wait about another 5 min for food. Mind you, we weren't even given water at this point. I had to ask for water. So then the food comes out. My girlfriend ordered a "seafood omelet" she asked before hand if it was real crab, and she was told yes. They omelet was small and dry, it came with toast with no butter, the presentation was unappealing. She cuts into it and the "crab" meat was gray and it didn't taste right. I ordered "cinnamon roll French toast" which was really Pillsbury cinnamon rolls from the grocery store with three blueberries and 1 strawberry on the plate. I also got a side of grits which had the consistency of soup. I asked for the manger and he said he would let the chef know we were not pleased with our meals. There was no apology, in regards to the drink sitting out, he said "it doesn't even matter it was sitting out there's still plenty of alcohol in it." Then in regards to the food the server came with the bill and said "I can take 10 percent off." 10% off of what? We didn't eat anything! The server said "I know, that's what cI was told to say." I said tell your manger that we're not paying for anything ecorse except the drink that she drank. She finally came back with the bill for the drink, we paid and left. The manger never once apologized or tried to make it right. I never complain or send food back, but this experience was that terrible. Also we were seated in a booth and a large party got seated in the booth next to us and the manger blocked our table by song another table for them to sit and I couldn't get out. I had to move the table out from the wall to get out of the booth. It was the most raggedy experience I've ever had a restaurant. I'll be sure to tell my 60k tik tok followers about my...
Read moreAbout my Birthday Brunch experience at Sugah Please.
IT WAS VERY VERY BAD My expectations were not met at all, When I first booked and paid the $150 I reviewed their menu and I was excited because it seemed as if I would have a wonderful experience. I also dropped in one day after work to see the room. On that day I met with one of the managers and one of the waitresses who both told me I would be more than taken care of. I ordered food and drink and was very impressed with the quality. But on the day of the brunch everything went left, causing me to have a very unpleasant Birthday Experience not only for myself but also my guests.
1st When my guest arrived they were told that my brunch did not start until 3:30 PM but I booked for 1:30 pm and my invoice stated 1:30 so not sure how that got mixed up.
2nd The room was very hot and uncomfortable and all guests were complaining about breathing and burning eye issues which I was told was due to a broken ventilation system.
3rd I was told that I would have 2 dedicated servers and there was only one who was struggling to keep up with our orders.
4th Not only did it take 2 hours to receive food, it took 30 minutes to just get water, over half the orders were incorrect, food was subpar, not all menu items were available. I ordered my food which was only appetizers which I never received my whole order and it wasn't until I was talking about all the issues with the manager that I was told that they were out of what I ordered.
Not only was my party very unsatisfied on that day but my niece had friends sitting in the outer dining room who after waiting over an hour for food were told that their meals would not be prepared (They went so far as to go live on Instagram about it perhaps you have ad a chance to view it)
While the manager was very apologetic once I got a chance to talk to and she did take a lot of the food off the bill for the inconvenience and the food being horrible (Many of my guests never touched their food). I was also expecting some of the monies back that I paid for receiving the food or at least to have it applied towards the final bill she told me she did not have the authority to do that.
After leaving because we were still very hungry many of us just went to another restaurant. Positive the place is beautiful so I hope they get it together for...
