If you want to take $400* and light it on fire, come here. The massage therapists were very nice that’s why there is two stars and not just one. But I’ve never felt so finessed in my life. Upon arriving, the salt water grotto was closed. The man at the desk told me that i should’ve received an email with this information. I did not receive an email, only a text with a link that said something about how we are able to use the grotto for an hour after the massage, other arrival information etc. I asked if their rates are the same, being that I only booked them specifically for the salt water grotto. There are dozens of other spas all across metro Detroit with better rates and amenities, I only booked this one because of the grotto. The man at the desk says “no, that’s just something complementary we offer our guests so the rate is the same” LOL. Something “complementary” that you use as a major selling point for your services. They know this, if they didn’t know this- they would take the grotto off their website or state that it is temporarily closed. To mislead customers is unfair business practice. We did almost leave because of this and just take the L on the $167 deposit I already paid, the vibes in there were very strange.
The auto gratuity is not included in the price that you’re given when you send a deposit. So for a 50 minute massage, and a plate of cheese and grapes, it was 400$ for two people..
The man at the desk approached us after the massage while we were eating our cheese, asking if I could cash out with him before we rinse off and get dressed again. (???????) What, you think I’m going to get dressed and make a run for it? We are in a basement. Very much gave the vibe of “sure you can eat here but you have to pay the tab before I serve you.” I know they don’t do that with everyone because I literally watched him cash a couple out as we arrived, after they were already dressed and were on their way out. It felt weird, like maybe it was because we are a younger couple or something.
The place is pretty, that’s about it. You pay $400 for a service, you should be getting exactly what you’re paying for outlined by the website. If they can’t give you what you paid for, there should be some type of notice given or a discounted rate. Lastly if I’m paying $400 don’t give me a bathrobe that is $5 and DEFINITELY FROM TEMU. You pay $400 for one hour you should feel welcomed, taken care of, comfortable, etc. atleast turn the sauna on. That was off so we had to awkwardly wait like twenty minutes just for it to slightly heat up. In our Temu robes I was just so over it we decided to leave at that point. Also the chairs have strange stains on them. This was just such a bad experience- would never return. Will never ever ever in a million years recommend this place to any of my other colleagues.
Again the massage therapists were very nice ladies. If it weren’t for them being so sweet it would be one star.
Edit: okay actually I am going to change the review to one star because it’s what the place deserves. Poor hospitality, poor quality, false advertising etc etc. do not...
Read moreI booked a spa day for myself and 2 friends about a month in advance, and from the beginning I should have seen the red flags. Their online booking system was down, so I had to call to schedule, I talked to 2 different people, and even though I wanted to book packages for each of us, their system would not allow it so I had to break down every package and book 6 services; which the staff guaranteed they would book appropriately and apologized for. Today my friends and I had our appointments and it was a disaster from the beginning. Two of my appointments “somehow got canceled” from their system, so the lady was scrambling trying to accommodate us all, talking a mile a minute about how she is going to make it all work. I already paid a deposit for all these services, mind you, and she immediately begins talking about how she’s adjusting the appointments and “it will all work out.” Inbetween my services I check my phone and see that she has now charged me $38 x 2 as another deposit on top of my 2 services that had “gotten canceled” by their system. My friends and I also did not get our services coordinated together so were unable to spend any time together lounging or in the grotto. The services were subpar for the prices; the esthetician did not use a streamer for the facials and was doing extractions in a dimly lit room. Once we were all finished with our services and trying to settle the bill is where I completely lost respect for this business. The lady kept talking about how “we will make this right” yet could not show me a printout bill of what she had charged me for or my previous deposit. She was very hung up on trying to give me a discount when all I wanted from her was an appropriate breakdown of the services. She was very flustered and unprofessional. And STILL could not give me a bill breakdown and also has not emailed me one as she said she was going to do. I will be disputing these charges with my credit card company and warn anyone that is looking to go here to turn...
Read moreIt’s a 100% YES from me! I absolutely ADORE the Soak Spa! My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at the Detroit Club and the Soak Spa was the absolute highlight of our getaway. We had an 80 minute couples massage, followed by a soak in their beautiful hot tub. The spa is located in the basement and every inch of it is gorgeous. It’s fancy and luxurious. The staff was so kind and accommodating. You get a robe and a locker for all your belongings and there’s tons of amenities in the woman’s locker room area if needed. There’s also an infrared sauna in there that you can use too! (Same for the mens locker room as well.) The massage I had was incredible. I usually go to the Beach House Day Spa (prior to my discovery of Soak Spa) but this experience was unlike any other. The massage therapist put so much effort into making sure she was using the perfect amount of pressure. They also used the steamed towels during the massage like 5-6 times, which I LOVED! Now for my favorite part: THE SOAKING TUB! I love hot tubs and I’m constantly searching for new experiences that involve them in Michigan. This soaking tub is HUGE and gorgeous. The most beautiful one I’ve managed to find in Michigan… and the biggest. It’s pretty private and filled with bubbles! I could’ve stayed in there all night. Getting to soak after my massage was the cherry on top of the perfect spa experience. Overall, the soak spa is A+ for service, quality, and aesthetics. If you’re looking for a full on TRUE spa experience, this should be your go to place! I left feeling...
