M Body Massage Therapy — Attraction in Dr. Phillips

Let me preface my review by saying the people were very friendly. I was a licensed massage therapist in California and have gotten dozens of massages over the years in different places. Now having said that, this massage experience was not like any other and was not what I was expecting. We received a gift certificate for a couple’s massage as a wedding gift and we were really excited to go. When I looked up the reviews and saw zero negative reviews and 4.9 stars, I had high expectations. When we first came in, they didn’t talk to us about any areas of our bodies we wanted worked on or avoided, they just took us to a room, told us to undress, and lay face down on the table. When they started, they just dug right in… literally. They didn’t even use oil when they first started. Based on all of my education and experience, this massage was not done correctly or done well. It was painful because they were pushing on our bones and joints, which you are NOT supposed to do. I understand being sore after a massage, as I have had that experience before when I received my first deep tissue massage, and I understand why it happens, but both my husband I were in a lot of pain, to the point we needed to take ibuprofen afterwards and had trouble being comfortable while we slept last night. Parts of our bodies were skipped over altogether, and they did not use proper technique for a lot of things including making sure we were covered, the placement of their hands, or supporting our knees once we turned over on the table. Overall it was very aggressive and not a smooth and relaxing experience at all. It was noisy with the doorbell going off and people talking loudly outside the room. At one point one of our massage therapist’s phone went off and they were talking to each other. It was extremely disappointing to spend that much money on what should have been a beautiful, relaxing, and bonding experience for my new husband and I and ended up with us both frustrated, unhappy, and in pain. As an educated massage therapist, I am very concerned that they are not utilizing proper training and techniques for their massages and people are being hurt, which was the case for us. I CANNOT recommend this place to anyone and caution people against receiving a massage here. I received THEE BEST impromptu massage EVER by Coco tonight at M Body Therapy. I have so many positive things to say about M Body Therapy and Coco herself!

I am terrible at planning ahead for massages and well…tonight was one of those nights. We got back to our villa from walking around Universal Studios all day and I had a random thought, “a massage sounds amazing right now…I wonder if I can get one tonight.” I Googled “massages near me” and M Body Therapy popped up, their hours were amazing so I thought “well…let’s give this a shot and hope for the best!” Coco answered the phone and without hesitation, she welcomed me to come right in. She also texted me the address! From the time of the call, to the time I was lying down for my massage, it was 14 minutes! The location was very easy to find and super close to the villa I am staying at! Coco was exceptionally welcoming upon arrival and made sure I felt very comfortable throughout the whole massage! The facility was extremely clean and cozy!!! Coco gave by far the best massage I’ve ever received and I’ve had plenty of massages, I used to have a monthly membership where I live.

I honestly can’t say enough about this place! 10/10 for sure!!!

I am planning on taking my husband back in a few days to receive a couples massage before heading back home to Ohio!

I was hopeful after reading all of the great reviews but unfortunately I will not recommend this place, definitely not worth the $100 that was paid. I am thankful I was able to get in same-day and arrived 10 mins early for paperwork. I walked in and there was no one at reception and I waited until after the time my appointment was supposed to start and still no one had come to the front. I had to walk around calling for someone and they were surprised to see me there. No waiver or any paperwork filled out, no conversation about injuries or what areas I needed to work on. Just simply told to take my clothes off and lay down.

The massage itself was not good, the therapist (who never introduced herself so I did not get a name) did not really seem to know proper technique and kept pushing on my spine which was painful. I have a back and hand injury that was aggravated.The stretching was too much and could have easily caused injury. I also mentioned I did not want hot stones 4 times and the therapist kept trying to use them to the point I had to say please stop.
