Was not impressed and rarely do I write negative reviews. I presume the owner was behind the bar when I walked in, not much of a greeting. Maybe if you’re not a local they don’t go out of their way or this could have been an off day, everyone has those. The double shot espresso was good, I wanted it to go but again there wasn’t much of a conversation and a red flag is when you don’t wash your hands, especially when you’re making nasally or congested noise. The other red flag is milk temp, in this case almond milk heats faster than whole and is harder to get textured, but that wasn’t even an effort made in this process. The milk was steamed beyond desired point and 10 minutes later, still undrinkable.

What a hidden gem! Cork & Beans is the perfect blend of cozy charm and big-city café sophistication right in the heart of Dunedin. I had a chocolate latte that was absolutely delicious — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a unique mix of coffee shop by day and wine bar by night. I especially appreciated the quiet corner where I could work on my laptop without distraction, while still enjoying light conversation. Whether you’re looking for a morning pick-me-up or an evening glass of wine, this quaint little spot delivers. Highly recommend stopping in!

Visited the coffee shop while staying in Florida for a few days visiting from Nebraska. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff and regulars who were also having a drink were friendly and everyone was suggesting to us where we should go for the best times. My kids are kinda coffee snobs and said the coffees they had were the best they ever had and were excited to go back the next day. I will revisit when I make it back to the area again.

My wife and I had our dogs with us. We went to the coffee place across the street as that is the place we googled first. We didn’t end up getting food there and saw they had food at cork and bean. They have a nice seated area with shade which our dogs needed.

I had already finished my coffee but my wife couldn’t start on her coffee because she went in to order. We got two breakfast sandwich which tasted fine, but they don’t have EGGS! Kinda crazy to not have eggs for breakfast food.

The real issue is after we sat down and started to eat they kicked us out of the shaded area because my wife still had her coffee from across the street. We just spent money to eat at your establishment and because she had a coffee they kicked us out.

Yes, there are signs on tables (that are all knocked over) that states no outside food or drink. We took that as, if you didn’t buy anything from us you can’t use our stuff. However, we just bought food from you. Only one other table was even being used at the time.

If we didn’t buy anything from you or even if you didn’t have any tables I get it. However, we just purchased food from you and you kick us out over one coffee. That’s horrible customer service and atmosphere.

So we will stay away and for that we will never spend another cent in your place. I hope your staff learns a little more business/common sense.

  • Response to the absolutely horrible business sense response. The policy is dumb if we purchase food at your establishment. You have let a $5 coffee from elsewhere now allow you to not gain more money in the future. Which we would have come back pretty regularly just because of the out door sitting space. You could have easily said “hey guys it’s fine this time but we really prefer you blah blah blah”. Absolutely zero customer service. Reading over your reviews it seems like you have lost a lot of business for this reason as well.

Also, maybe you should have your employees push the add on’s?!?! Seems like perfectly good business sense to push simple add ons and up sells. Big menus you might miss little side notes on the board. But after your reviews and responses it does make sense considering you clearly have zero common sense. I really hope you wise up considering you have made it clear you clear more about your ego than customer service. Many poor reviews about your customer service. Please just stay away and go across the street to Dunedin...

UPDATE: 1-8-24 Sadly this venue has deteriorated considerably over time. I've witnessed this as a daily patron for over a year.

THE OWNER: She has become RUDE and CRUDE in her treatment of her long-term customers. And her long-term employees have been mistreated to the point of resigning.

THE ATMOSPHERE: DOGS are permitted to stay INSIDE while their owners eat and drink (no other coffee shop allows this). Besides sanitary issues it causes movement in the store to be HAMPERED with dogs lying on the floor, making it difficult to navigate over or around them with the adjacent HUGE tables and bar chairs (DANGEROUS if you're a senior). I've seen large dogs (encouraged by the store owner) to stand up and put their paws on the bar where people eat and lie on couches where people sit. I've had the nauseating experience of seeing a dog PEE on the floor and DOG HAIR on the floor and couches was a regular occurance.

THE FOOD: Many of the daily regulars have complained about the quality of the food and drink. And, on occasion, reported getting sick from the food.

Subsequently many of us have moved on to other coffee shops in Dunedin. 11/4/22 Cork & Beans. THE PLACE to indulge in good coffee, good wine, and good food. Plus the unique opportunity to MEET new and interesting people. And possibly cultivate new FRIENDSHIPS.

The outside is enclosed with a tables-in-the-round arrangement, reminiscent of European cafes. A style conducive to cordiality and FRIENDLY CONVERSATION which easily percolates between tourists and townies.

In one sitting tourists can get the INSIDE SCOOP from enthusiastic locals on Delightful Dunedin: recommendations on parks, beaches, restaurants, markets, local arts-and-crafts fairs, and more.

Host Jessica, originally from Italy, carries on a tradition of Italian-style HOSPITALITY and CHARM. Like a good bartender will remember your drink, she'll likewise know your coffee or wine blend, and have it ready in a flash, with a pleasant smile and a warm word of welcome.

Besides vast coffee and wine selections don't forget their DELICIOUS FOOD MENUS. And don't miss their evening HAPPY HOUR -- when the wine and conversation and laughter are pouring out in abundance. All at a VERY AFFORDABLE PRICE compared to some in the downtown area.

Cork & Beans is the most pleasant place to START the day. And END the day.

Cork & Beans. Where everyone knows your name. And you'll get to...

Our favourite coffee shop in Florida!! We are snow birds from Canada, spent more than 3 months in Dunedin. From day one we went to Jessica’s coffee shop, we fell in love in here. Since then, we almost visited this little cute coffee shop everyday. It’s small, but very homey. Jessica and John are both very nice person, friendly, sincere and nice. We even spent our SuperBowl night here! They did potluck, everyone brought some home made food, it’s like a very very nice community centre. Everyone knows everyone here. And we are happy they started to know us! Jessica knows what we normally order, what we like, what type of milk we prefer. Also, you should see the way Jessica pours wine for you!! I’ve never met such a generous, and friendly and sweet coffee/wine shop owner before. Highly recommend! We will miss here for sure after we come...
