I drive from Maryland more than an hour because Ive loves Stauffer of Kissel Hill. This yearim disappointed. I bought a Mandevilla plant and brought it back and placed it in my screen porch watering it and waiting for the risk of frost to pass. I immediately noticed it dropping leaves, some discoloring of leaves and shriveling of leaves. Within a few days budsand leaves were dropping. It appears to be diseased. I paid $29.99 for the plant and now I must replace it. My Lantana hanging plant $34.95? Also has leaves and I am trying to rescue it by spraying. I've always thought that paying more for nursery plants would ensure my success because (I assumed) the plants would have a healthier start. This year, my theory has proven wrong. I'm senior with mobility issues so I try to put my best foot forward. I have to say I'm disappointed and off to a rough start on creating a beautiful palate for my...
Read moreStauffers of Kissel Hill is a small chain of home and garden stores in the area. I visited this one in winter, shortly before to pick up some holiday decor. There was a fantastic selection of evergreens, wreaths, trees poinsettias, centerpieces and even components to make your own reaths, misletoes and so on. There too was a good selection of perineal flowers. Everything was in good shape, nothing was wilted or looked too old or dead. The place was divided into sections, an outside section, a lightly sheltered area, a greenhouse area, and a traditional indoor area. The indoor area had outdoor furniture, awnings, gazebos, and outside decor, along with the Christmas ornaments, and candles. The staff was very helpful in showing us where to go and assisting us. Recommend them, prices were fair and quality of plants are...
Read moreProbably the most gorgeous greenhouse in our area. However, their herbs yesterday were $4.99 and Esbenshades had them for $2.99 this past weekend and Hoovers had them for $2.49. Major price difference if you are an herb lover. Plus, not one staff person working at Stauffers spoke to me or asked if I needed help. Not so at Esbenshades or Hoovers. Staff all friendly & helpful. At Stauffers check out, the woman was very nice, however what I thought was a $5 coupon was not. I was told I had to scan the ad to get the APP and so on. What? Stauffers please save your money on these beautiful colorful ads and drop prices a tad. Driving to Ephrata a bit further than Lancaster, but add price difference as well as friendliness & service, beyond worth it. Not uplifting getting a negative ripped off feeling...
