Bryant Square is undergoing a bit of a remodeling, which means they've increased the rent, so many stores did not or were not invited to renew their lease are gone. Other changes are that Mackie McNear's is gone, as is Radio Shack (expected), Bryant Liquor, the shoe cobbler and other smaller businesses. Cici's Pizza no longer has it's in building but is next to Los Marcos now. PDQ has moved in with it's own building and they put Five Below next to Dollar Tree.
I'm hoping the remodeling doesn't involve just the window dressing on the buildings and they address the layout of the actual parking lot. For instance, instead of placing all the handicapped parking in front of the store entrances, they placed them farther away, which to me defeats their purpose. The parking spaces and lanes are also very badly designed. Entering the shopping center from Bryant between Chase Bank and Under the Sun, there's immediately a stop sign that can get you killed because the view is impeded by a badly-placed bush. If you get past that okay, you don't have a straight path to the parking lane but you have to jog around to it. Furthermore people tend to ignore the lanes altogether and choose their own path to where they are going rather than drive up and down the lane.
Every now and then you get the odd panhandler, but for the most part shopping at Bryant Square is safe. The stores are usually all closed by 10 pm, the lot is lit and seems to stay lit after closing time.
These are my observations on Bryant Square and I hope they...
Read moreBryant Square is vastly improved over the last few years... at least as far as external appearance goes. As far as each individual store goes, some have improved (in terms of appearance and perhaps operation) and some are unchanged – which is not to say that is a bad thing. Mere change matters not one bit for a store that was already well-designed and well-managed. What has definitely completely changed and improved is the design of the parking areas with a new diagonal inner lane making ingress and egress a bit easier. But that doesn't stop the occasional maniac from cutting across all parking spots dangerously and at high speed, so please exercise caution. ON THE OTHER HAND – stores and layout on the side facing 2nd street (aka Edmond Road) has completely changed, both in overall design and in the mix of stores. This is all much better than before. The previous mix of restaurants were not all that good (with a couple of exceptions). SADLY THE HALLMARK STORE IS GONE! I really miss that store, dedicated to finding the perfect gift/birthday/anniversary card and small gift. Now you have to hunt all over town for anything remotely similar.) All in all, be sure to make a visit when you can. The new Bryant Square is easy to miss as you speed by on your daily commute but there are several worthwhile stores. Old Navy is worth visiting. Check out the latest mobile tech at T-Mobile. Go further along and visit the cute pets at Petco. Check Ross for...
Read moreOne of only three Edmond shopping centers around for decades that hasn't been mothballed or completely renovated beyond recognition. But this shopping center has certainly evolved and Bryant Square is thriving, with a new 2-story Burger King and mini centers in the corner of the lot (where Western Sizzlin' used to be) and along the Bryant side of shopping area that house shops like Kay Jewelers and eateries like Five Guys Hamburgers, Torchy's Tacos and Cowboy Chicken. The main shopping center has bigger storefronts such as Old Navy, Ross, Dollar Tree, Five Below, Ulta Beauty, Famous Footwear and Party Galaxy, as well as smaller spaces for T-Mobile, Jazzercise, Uptown Cheapskate and Tee for the Soul, plus several more restaurants and specialty shops.
It's a great spot for a variety of shopping and dining options. Watch out for other drivers as well as pedestrians in the numerous parking lot turns and throughout the various parking areas, particularly in the smaller parking and...
