You know how excited you are when you are super hungry or thirsty to get food or drink from a vending machine. And then you go and put money into a vending machine and get back only a half a drink or half bag of chips? If you have then you would understand how I felt when this place charged me $34 for 30 minutes or less or skate time. They didn’t even inform that the open skate session would end soon. I do understand that I should have doubled check the schedule, but if they really cared about keeping customer late happy they would have the decency to at least tell you that you have only so much skate time left. The fact that they just sell you tickets with only a little time left and without warning that the tickets expire in 30 minutes or less just shows how little they care about their customers.
Customer service: Toyota Sports Center customer service was the worst experience I had I seen it’s like they don’t even want new customers. Not welcoming to new people to the Toyota Sports Center. At this point I feel like I’m just ranting so sorry for that. Any ways I hope this helps people when choosing a place to skate. It was my first time at Toyota Sports center and...
Read moreYour mileage will vary depending on what you want to do. If you are wanting to take skating classes or just skate in general, this place is great. By that I mean: the condition of rink itself is in good condition. Everything else, it is up in the air. Seems like there is a general lack of effort on being organized, efficient or cognizant of simple privacy/security concerns.
For example, I can recall that on at least one occasion, the skate rental didn't open until 5 minutes before class was supposed to start and nobody seemed to know why it was closed nor when it would open. Given the time, there was a mad scramble to get skates.
I also had an issue come up in the course of attempting to schedule an event. I eventually ended up messaging the General Manager with my concerns. The party that was the source of my concern contacted me almost immediately thereafter, but I honestly have no idea if that was because the GM prompted them to do so or if it was coincidental, given the GM never acknowledged my message to begin with. Definitely not a place I would recommend for...
Read moreThis review is specific to the public ice skating experience! The Toyota Sports Center hosts a great public ice skating rink, where you can come with your own skates, or rent on location. The rink is well maintained, and typically not very busy. Prices are good and the skates work! The rink has areas to sit and watch those on the ice, and the staggered seating makes it easy to follow along. There is a marked off area in the center of the rink, typically where figure skaters will practice. At the far end of the rink you will sometimes see cones dividing it off - this is where paid lessons will take place. The center is a great place to do some fun public skating - and if you want to watch but not get a chill, there are even large windows that let you sit outside in the warmth and look down on the skaters!
Pro tip - although you can put your skate on right where you get them (there are benches there), instead walk down the hallway to the rink and put them on there. It's a lot easier to walk that distance in your...
