This was exactly as I remembered it from 20 something years ago! The guys that work there were fast on their feet to help take stuck fish off hooks and were an absolute pleasure to talk to. They provide bait, poles and buckets, and within a few seconds of casting, we caught our first fish. Unfortunately, they can no longer cook the fish for you, but the clean it real nice and give you the best cooking instructions. For a couple folks who don't cook much, by following their directions, we were able to cook them perfectly. Be ready to spend some money though! Its catch and keep (due to the Trout being handled they cannot be thrown back in because they will die anyways). They charge by the inch. On that note though, any amount paid is worth it. The kids will have a blast, with guaranteed catches, all the while making memories that literally last a lifetime. Put some extra money aside and make...
Read moreThe setup is nice - everything is taken care of, the location is beautiful, the staff were friendly, there's a playground for the kids. The only problem is the cost is so high and there are too many fish in the pond, so you're paying $50 or more for 3 minutes of action. You can't stop the fish from biting immediately. You're also not allowed to throw fish back (fair enough) which means you can't do anything to extend the fishing experience.
If you just want to show someone what it's like to catch a trout, and you're willing to pay $25-$50 for it, this place is a sure bet. They packed our fish nicely and we cooked them too. If you want to experience fishing for more like 30-60 minutes, this is not the place for that.
Don't bother bringing anything; they provide rods and bait and tools for dirt cheap. The fish are what cost you,...
Read moreI love this place! From New Jersey I had never heard of ice fishing but once I did I had to try it while visiting Rocky Mountain National Park in winter. Stayed in Estes one night - saw this fishing pond and the awesome prices and I convinced my friends to go. Amazing prices for one pole, a coffee, and 2 fish at 22 inches total. Great deal for 30 minutes of quiet relaxation and excitement while waiting for the trout to nibble, a great social distance activity. And the staff were so so nice! Encouraging, kind, thoughtful, and funny. Didn't make me feel bad for knowing nothing. I highly recommend. They also have ice skating! Note, fishing stops after dark (ice skating continues but the fish are apparently visual predators, fascinating). Good for couples and families or if you want a fun dinner you...
