RESPONDING TO OWNER'S COMMENT
First of all, you saying the price on the tag is not from Gowns of Grace is completely inaccurate. EVERY single dress and accessory we have tried on has the same type of price tag on the dresses that is in the store.
Secondly, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, when we were trying on the dress, Natalie had told us the price of the dress as she was trying it on, so there is absolutely no explanation/excuse you can give for the price change.
If what you're saying is even remotely close to the truth, wouldn't it make sense to pull the customer aside and tell them about the price change? Wouldn't it be courteous to explain what happened, apologize about the confusion while we were there? Instead you peeled the price tag off and tried to sneak past a $1,400 mark up? What kind of customer service is that?
The truth is, you saw how excited the bride was, you saw that we were looking to buy multiple dresses, and you thought you can surge up the price and we wouldn't even notice. WE DID NOTICE!!!
Additionally, if your statement about the tag is correct, that means every single price tagged on every dress in your store is then inaccurate and all brides shopping at your store should be aware of your price hikes.
BRIDES, by the owner's comment, the prices tagged on the dresses are just a suggestion and will increase at the time of payment. So basically, fall in love with the dress and the "suggested" price, then they'll charge you extra for loving it!!!
I have attached additional pictures of prices of the other dresses we tried on.
I was at this store this weekend to help my sister pick out her wedding dress and everything was going well at first. We were planning on purchasing multiple dresses for morning and evening and were surprised we found very nice dresses that we loved. However, when we went to go check out for one of the dresses, they literally peeled off the price tag that initially said $2,350 and told us our total was $4,200. When we asked about the price, both Nancy and Natalie (the owners) said the price of the dress is $3,700 and the rest was tax. They tried to confuse us since we were looking at multiple dresses, but we had initially taken a picture of the price tag so we just left the store without purchasing anything.
While my sister was getting dressed in the back, Natalie told us she would take the dress in the front and bag it for us. which at that time they peeled the price tag off so when we went to pay for the dress, the price was not on the dress any more.
It's very disappointing to see how they treat their customers and run their business especially since we went there after reading the good reviews online.
Not only did they hike up the prices at checkout, but the service was also subpar. No excuses for poor customer treatment. Avoid unless you're a fan of...
Read moreI went to get fitted for my dress in March of this year and it just came in this past week. The dress did not fit. It was about 4 inches too small. The woman who helped me tried to blame it on me having gotten bigger after I reassured her multiple times that that wasn’t possible. I’m a Professional Powerlifter, so my weight must stay consistent (which is has as I’m on strict dieting and I had just competed the weekend prior). She argued that she “sees it all the time” with muscle growth, which I told her that it’s not physically possible for a woman to gain 4 inches of width on her back and abdomen in only 6 months. I had to drive from San Antonio to Dallas to go pick this dress up so she told me that I could take the dress and take it somewhere else to get it fixed with an attitude. She refused to take responsibility for the shop’s mistake, and I was reassured that it WAS their mistake after taking it to another shop where my measurements were taken again and the owner of the alterations shop told me that the dress was not made properly. I have seen a couple of reviews with people who have had similar experiences with this shop that I unfortunately did not see until I decided to write my own review over my experience. Do not shop here if you have another option. If you do, size up because they WILL blame their mistakes on you and use any excuse instead of taking accountability. They make you sign a paper before they order the dress that says that they’re not responsible for alterations should the dress not be delivered up to standard (of course, lol). And you’re still liable for the amount pending at pick-up regardless of whether the dress fits or not. When you walk in, the service seems impeccable. They’re very welcoming and tend to your every need. However, when it’s time to pick up the dress, the woman at the front desk drags her feet and will call someone else to help you get into the dress after realizing it doesn’t fit because the woman she calls has an even worse attitude than the first one does. I wish that I could’ve brushed it off and decided to find another dress, but I paid $4,500 and they didn’t seem to care. Instead, they wanted to add another $1000 for alterations. It seems odd that it takes them months to deliver a dress and specifically ask for your wedding date so that they can deliver it only 6 weeks before your wedding. I supposed it’s another way to try to make more money off of you by delivering a dress that is not up to measurements standards and guaranteeing you speedy alterations.
Update: The owner read my review and called me to argue about it. It turns out, she was the second person I spoke to at the shop who had been rude to me and told me that I could take the dress somewhere else. She also offered to make free alterations to the sleeves AFTER she saw my review, despite how pleasant I was with her in shop to try to get her to...
Read moreBrides, Beware of Gowns of Grace – My Honest Experience I truly regret not reading the reviews before going to Gowns of Grace. My experience was frustrating, overpriced, and handled with zero accountability.
Unexpected “Tariff” Charge:
When I selected my wedding gown, I was quoted a price. However, at checkout, I was charged an unexpected $350 fee, which the owner described as a “tariff.” The receipt, however, listed this charge as a “delivery fee.” This contradiction was never clarified upfront.
The owner later showed me an email from the vendor stating that prices would increase starting April 14, 2025, implying this fee was related to that tariff increase. However, this reasoning does not apply to my specific situation.
Incorrect Dress and Domestic Reorder:
When I returned for my first fitting, the dress did not fit at all, despite the fact that the boutique had taken my measurements at the time of purchase. This means one of two things: either the wrong size was ordered, or my measurements were mishandled — either way, the error was on the boutique’s part.
As a result, the boutique contacted the vendor and located the correct size dress in Austin, TX, which they had shipped locally. Since my final dress was sourced domestically, the original justification for the “international tariff” fee does not apply to my order. I believe I should be refunded that charge.
Excessive Alteration Costs:
At my alterations appointment, the staff did provide a cost breakdown. However, the alterations alone totaled $1,538, which I found to be unreasonably high — especially given that the dress itself cost around $1,930. While I appreciated the breakdown, the pricing felt like highway robbery, particularly after the earlier errors and lack of accountability.
Unprofessional Customer Service:
When I raised my concerns with the owner, she was completely dismissive, throwing up her hands and saying, “So what do you want me to do about it?” Instead of taking responsibility or offering a reasonable resolution, I was met with hostility and defensiveness.
Publicly, this business claims to “graciously accept correction when it is just.” That was not my experience. Despite clear evidence that the error originated with them, no correction or meaningful acknowledgment was ever made.
Brides: don’t risk your wedding experience here. There are many reputable, kind, and transparent bridal shops in Dallas. This is not one of them. Run — don’t walk — somewhere else.
I’ll be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, and I encourage others to...
