Overall the food is very good, though I do have a few comments. I want to preface that I am from New Mexico and Houston, so I am very picky when it comes to tex-mex lol.
I placed a to-go order, and was impressed with how fast the order was ready during peak dinner rush. For reference the entrance is in the bottom level of the mall right next to the ice rink. Picking up my order was very easy, I was directed by the friendly hostess to the bar where my order was ready.
Overall the food was very good. The appetizer plate was good and had a varied mix of items - quesadilla slices, what I can best describe as mini tostadas in beef/cheese and beans/cheese (the nachos?), and chicken taquitos, served with chips/salsa. I do want to forewarn that the chips are more of a traditional corn style and a bit firmer because of that, and not the thin salty style chips that I am more used to, but they were still pretty good. There was also a variety of choices of dips between the queso, guac, and salsa included which I did like. The guac was very good and I did like that it had more of a sliced avocado mix in it, it felt very house made. The food was overall pretty good and the portions were very good as well.
For me though, the real winner was the tres leches cake for dessert. A good tres leches is surprisingly moist for a cake, and this slice certainly did not disappoint. It was very good, not too overly sweet but well balanced between the creamy cake and sweeter frosting. This is probably one of the best desserts that I've had on my trip and I would definitely be ordering it again on a future visit.
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I will have to return on a future trip to see how the dine-in...
Read moreIf I could give this specific location zero stars I would. I left before the food came out because I had been sitting there for easily over an hour and the waiter had only been by twice- once to get our drink and food order and then a second time to leave the drinks only. 4 separate tables with a party larger than mine (I had a party of 3 including myself) were seated a good 10-15mins after we were and they all got their drinks and food in a timely manner. We got there just before the lunch rush and while I understand there may be a wait due to the high volume of customers, this wait was just ridiculous. Even the table seated behind us were concerned because we had not received our food yet and they were already finishing up. I had to ask a different waiter to give me my check for the drinks only and he was kind enough to comp us the drinks (which were all fountain drinks) after I explained the situation to him. Really disappointing because every other location I’ve been to has been great even if there is a wait but this location is one to stay far away from. Mi Cocina is a great restaurant and I will continue to be a customer but I will not be coming back to this...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Mi Cocina in the Galleria for over 10 years, and let me just say—it never disappoints. In a mall full of ever-changing spots, this place has remained a constant in the best way possible. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a sit-down dinner after shopping, Mi Cocina always delivers top-tier Tex-Mex with style.
The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Sunset Fajitas are my go-to, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The chips and salsa come out fast (and hot!), and the famous Mambo Taxi is still one of the best cocktails in town—dangerously smooth and just strong enough to remind you who’s boss.
Service here has always been solid. The staff is friendly, professional, and efficient, even during busy weekend rushes. They treat regulars like family, and even if it’s your first time, you’ll feel taken care of.
The ambiance strikes that perfect balance between upscale and approachable. You can come dressed up or casual and still feel right at home. After a decade of meals here, I can confidently say Mi Cocina at the Galleria is a Dallas classic for a reason. Always clean, always delicious, and always...
