We stumbled upon this house purely by chance while walking by, and it turned out to be such an incredible experience. This place is filled with deep history, and I highly recommend taking the guided tour. Walking through the house while listening to its story was truly captivating. What makes this house even more unique is that it has always been operated by women. Back in the day, when women couldn’t work and many were in need, this house provided a way for them to work together and earn a living. Remarkably, it is still run by women today, who care for the house and preserve its legacy. The house originally belonged to a famous doctor, and it was his granddaughter who left it to the city. Inside, there are two floors to explore, and every piece of furniture and decor is original. The authenticity and attention to detail are simply stunning, making the history come alive as you walk through the rooms. My child and I were both deeply impressed by how beautifully everything is organized. Before leaving, we couldn’t resist taking home a small souvenir—places like this are too special to leave without bringing a piece of their story with you. What’s even more inspiring is that the house operates on a donation-based system. You pay what you feel is appropriate, which adds to its unique charm. Before leaving, you can sign the guestbook, making you feel like a part of its history. This magical place left a lasting impression on us, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a treasure that...
Read moreI drove four hours to visit on my 28th wedding anniversary. Love the story behind the Women's Exchange. Just wanted to spend a few minutes on a special day. Had no intention of taking a tour. The location is on a pedestrian street. I got lost..It was hard to find. GPS in pedestrian mode took me blocks away. I arrived at 3:55. Instead of letting me tell what I wanted. I got first greeted with "you have a boo boo". "That's what my three and five year old grand kids would say". Then I got told "tours end at four". I walked out disgusted. After I left and walked down the road I heard the four o-clock bells chime. I paid for parking. I only planned a brief tour. MY notes told me the place closed at five, the last tour was four. I thought the story of the King of Spain was interesting and I wanted a quick look. That was no way to great me. I got better reception in Spain by the King of Spain's Administrator. Trust me I will not be back. That was no way to...
Read moreWe hosted a baby shower at this venue and it was absolutely perfect and gorgeous. The women who are part of the Women’s Exchange were extremely supportive and wonderful to host along side of. They made the process smooth and easy. They provided tables, linens, chairs, and even set it all up for us. They were also nice enough to let us drop off all of our event decorations the day before the event. We couldn’t have asked for a better day/venue choice to celebrate. I highly recommend the Pena Peck House and Women’s Exchange for all...
