We went here with a party of 10 (8 adults2 kids). The hostess was super nice and said it would be about 30 minutes. The 30 minutes turned into an hour while other tables that could have been used for our party were sat with other guest, so we inquired why our table was not yet ready. The manager Kevin Hawkins came out to explain we need to be patient and started giving us excuses for the delay. We said we have been patient since our 30 minutes turned into over a hour. At which time we got frustrated and Kevin Hawkins started to get defensive, which turned into him insulting my family and grandchildren. He then told us we were banned from this establishment and the prohibition kitchen. When my son and daughter in law confronted him about his remarks about the grandchildren he said “I was trying to hit you were it hurts”. He also tried to get in my son’s face in an aggressive manner while my daughter-in-law was standing between them holding a child and threatened my son. As a family who has been in the service industry ourselves I find this totally unprofessional. We should have been more informed by the delay. Kevin’s behavior was not what I would find appropriate in the service industry. This was a loss of income for the server we would of had and for the restaurant loss of revenue as we were a party of ten want to have a nice breakfast and spend money. Sorry we were not able to enjoy your restaurant on our...
Read moreDon’t walk past this place!! This is, by far, the best brunch we have had in a while and definitely the best in Historic Downtown. First the staff and server were incredibly kind, courteous, helpful and happy!! The coffee was fresh and hot and top quality. The fresh squeezed OJ tasted like eating the juiciest orange. It was so good!! The candied bacon with Datil mustard was out of this world. My husband isn’t big on mustard but I convinced him to dip his bacon and even he agreed that it made the taste so much better. The kids breakfast portions were very generous, came out quick and fresh made. The local eggs were probably the best I’ve had, ever. Super fluffy and incredibly flavorful. I ordered the Hipster Toast and no regrets!! It is HUGE. But I had to eat it all. They don’t skimp on the good stuff like the avocado and goat cheese, either. The pecans were the perfect crunch and the cornbread was soft and buttery. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken and Biscuits. Don’t be scared away by the gator gravy. Holy yum!! The bacon jam was the perfect added flavor to even out the profile. There was so much food on his plate that we actually took some home and to our surprise it was still delicious the next day! Go get yourself some yummy brunch and enjoy the smiling faces, you...
Read moreAll of these high reviewers must not get out much. I hate to be so negative, but wow... things could have gone better.
With all the fuss about this restaurant we were happy to only have a 30 minute wait for a party of four. After we were sat, reviewed the menu, and ordered- our food took over 35 minutes to arrive. During this time our waitress checked on us once. Not that we needed anything, but they were not crazy busy and it is only breakfast food. Seemed a little excessive.
I had the Croque Madame and it was very good. Everything else our party ordered was below average. My wife had their eggs Benedict special, it was cooked ok but lacked flavor and the pork was quite tough. My brother had an omelette with cheese and bacon, his cheese was not even melted. My sister-in-law had the corned beef from the waitresses suggestion and it was pretty horrible. We had a couple waffles on the side and they didn't have the right texture and lacked flavor. Not to mention the only thing hot on any of our plates were the potatoes.
It was a pretty big letdown and other than the lovely atmosphere, there weren't many redeeming qualities. With so many other great restaurants, who has time to give a sub performer a second chance?
To those about to dine, do yourself a favor and skip the...
