Schnaubelt distillery — Local services in Fort Bragg

I’d driven and walked by this place many times wanting to stop but never having the time. Yesterday I took a second to stop in to find a Christmas present for someone who has it all. I’m a big fan of the harbor and have always wanted to convert one of the historic buildings into a cool residence. Entering this fabulous redo, the fire burns brighter. The space takes you in a tasting room that transports you back in time and is balanced by a state of the art equipment used to make their fine wares. I felt bad interrupting the proprietors lunch, but I was on a time crunch. He was very engaging and answered my questions to a T, so instead of leaving with one bottle I left with 3… sadly none for me and no samples as I was volunteering. I would highly recommend that whether you live here, or are just visiting, that you stop in if you are age appropriate. I think it will become another abalone pearl...

We stumbled upon this place looking to buy our son-in-law a bottle of whiskey. Evette, John's mom was leaving the building as we arrived and she let us look at the whole operation prior to opening hours and gave us the history of the business. When they opened, Jenica served us samples of their rum and gin and both are world-class! We also sampled their canned sea breezes and they far surpass anything White Claw produces! We left with rum, gin and a case of sea breezes (no whiskey yet)! We returned 2 days later with family and were able to meet and talk with John, the owner. Although he was very busy he took the time to explain his product line and where he was hoping to go with it. The quality of the alcohol he produces is unbelievably good and I will not be surprised to see it winning medals in competitions! We all left with four more bottles of...

Went in for a tasting of the Candy Cap Mushroom Vodka and Bourbon. Nice maple flavor. The cost for a tasting is reasonable. They have more to try than just that but that's all I was interested in at the moment. They also make cocktails with their specialty libations if you would prefer. A bottle of the Candy Cap bourbon to purchase was a bit pricey but it's probably because it's so special. I enjoyed the tasting and the friendly service.
