Fort Lauderdale Beach Park's Playground — Attraction in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale Beach Park is definitely one of my favorite beaches. I used to work down the street and would try to make it there often. The parking lot is spacious but metered; the fees are minimal from what I recall. The beach is long and wide; it's also pretty clean everytime I visit. I've even done a yoga class there; it is pretty and serene. Since it's a touristy spot, it can be busy, especially during peak hours and when there are events going on. There are sidewalks along the road adjacent to the beach. It's a very walkable and pedestrian friendly area.

The amenities are plentiful. There is a basketball court, boat ramp, grills, outdoor showers, picnic tables, playground, restrooms, and volleyball court. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels nearby. When I have friends and family from out of town visit, this is one of the places I bring them. You can really tell how much this city cares about there homeless population. Thankfully they are able to find shade under the trees right next to the children’s playground.. that they can also find shelter in the restrooms. Keeping their belongs inside the handicap toilet. I’m not sure if they’re using drugs, I wouldn’t be shocked to find needles in the sand. Not very sanitary or kid friendly. The trash bins are full, overflowing onto the sand. You can rest a sure that if you pull in, and decide to take a 5/10 min look, pee, stretch your legs, you will be harassed by the parking guy to make sure you get a parking pass even if your not staying for more then 20 mins, next time probably won’t be so lucky to get a warning. So much trash on the beach and the city council encourages large venues to host beach events, pumping music so loud you can’t even hear yourself talk. Nothing but full of drunk people disrespectful of all those around them while sadly, the police stand idly by without any sound meters to keep things in check.

Noise violations nearly everyday, disturbing the peace but people somehow have just let it happen?

Beaches are also for relaxation, families, and for people to enjoy the outdoors. It’s a disgrace that the city allows these non-local massive organizations to take over the beach and just wreck havoc on people trying to enjoy vacations. Shame on them for approving the permits and disrespecting the members of the community.

The city council is only catering to for-profit, non-local businesses while essentially telling residents “we don’t care about you”.
