We visited Fort Lauderdale back in December and we did the water taxi and we loved it. We decided to do it again when we came back this time to have our family experience it with us. We got on around noon and just wanted to ride the boat and sight see. We got off once to go eat lunch and go to the mall. Around 7:40 pm I asked the co captain if he thought we would have time to get off at the next stop (#10) to eat at Bokampers, he assured me that we would have plenty of time to eat and catch the final boat at 9:30. We were outside waiting at 9:20. 9:35 rolled around no boat, so my sister called to make sure a boat would be coming. They told her yes a boat was coming. At 9:55 still no boat so we started getting worried and wondered if we needed to catch a cab. I then called to make sure someone was coming before we called a cab. The captain with an attitude said I already told you we were coming. The pull up around 10, and don't say a word to us. No lights on. After about 5 minutes, the captain puts his feet up and was on his phone, and the co captain was laying down on her phone. They didn't offer us a drink or say a word to us at all. We get to our stop(or so we thought) and they pulled up said here's your stop. We go to get off and tell them goodbye thank you, and we get nothing!! Very rude. We step off the boat to see that this wasn't where we originally boarded. We tried yelling for them but they already took off. It was so dark, no lights outside and we had no idea where we were. We had to use our GPS and lights on phone to even find our way. Very bad ending experience. Not sure if I'd...

Fun facts: If you buy your tickets at Shooter’s, you’ll get a discount; you can get off and on the taxi at will – your ticket is good for the entire day; after 5PM the cost is only $18 (as opposed to $28 for the full day pass) and they serve reduced priced bar beverages; you can get onboard with a “to go” cup from any dockside restaurant or bar – no need to guzzle the last of your drink before boarding!
The crew was really great on our after 6:30PM cruise through the Ft. Lauderdale waterways. We really didn’t have any intention of getting off and back on for this trip – we were more interested in a twilight cruise and some commentary while enjoying a couple of glasses (okay, plastic cups) of wine.
Our “cruise director” was really knowledgeable and fairly hilarious throughout our 2.5 hours onboard. We wholly enjoyed the trip and highly recommend taking advantage of this economical way to see the sites of the city. My only critique is that the adverts said there would be snacks available. The only thing we saw was an empty popcorn machine. Luckily we weren’t hungry as we’d enjoyed appetizers at Shooter’s Waterfront before boarding and had plans to go to the Bohemian Latin Grill afterwards, so we weren’t totally put...
Read moreWhen on board, the boat is professionally conducted and I felt safe. The crews seemed experience and helpful. The rides themselves were enjoyable. The route is fun.
HOWEVER. The Water Taxi website states a boat comes every 35-45 minutes on the Ft. Lauderdale route. Keep in mind the boat can only take on passengers if they have capacity. Some stops are only visited if a passenger on board indicates they want to get off, or the captain sees someone waiting.
If your stop is skipped, you may be waiting an additional 35-45 minutes, hoping the next one has capacity for you. The stops have very little shade and no seating.
I would say this is more of a rotating tourist boat service with designated stops than a “boat taxi” service that prioritizes getting guests from point A to point B.
Like another reviewer said, I watched the staff tell people waiting that another boat would be along in 15-30 minutes when that did not appear to be true.
Tl;dr: It’s a fine service, but don’t count on the boats picking you up at certain times and come prepared to wait at stops for a long time (snacks and...
