Nervously waiting to hear back on our offer for our first home, my fiance and I decided the best way to while away the time at our local Haverty's showroom. We immediately fell in love with the Piedmont sectional sofa! It was comfortable, spacious, durable.. the perfect piece to start making our new house a home. When we found out our offer was accepted, this was our first purchase.
We were so excited when delivery day came. We couldn't wait to sink into the amazing cushions and binge watch Law & Order. (We knew the cuddler section would be a few weeks behind the rest of the couch, but we were okay with that.) Excitement quickly turned to confusion as we tried to put the cushions on the couch. There weren't enough! And now I ask-- what good is a couch missing cushions?! We called Haverty's and were assured the missing piece would be delivered with the final section.
Fast forward a few weeks, and the final section was delivered. The missing cushion, however, was not. The delivery technicians assured us that we were, in fact, missing the cushions. We immediately got back in contact with the Haverty's customer service. After extensive explanations to the representative, she had no idea what we were saying. Can she please schedule a Cushion Technician to come out in the next few weeks to assess the situation? Uh, no. We really didn't care to wait that long. Back and forth and back and forth, she finally asked us to take a picture, and use Paint to circle the part of the couch that was missing a cushion. A little miffed, we did as we were told. We also popped into our local Haverty's to show them the exact piece that was missing and see if they could explain it better than us. That was a month ago, and I STILL CAN'T USE THAT PART OF MY COUCH. I was just told that there was no way to get the estimated delivery from the warehouse, but that fingers crossed it will be delivered within the next few weeks. We could have had a completely new Piedmont delivered in this amount of time.
In conclusion, the part of the couch that we have is beautiful and comfortable. But it has now been three months and several phone calls and we still don't have a complete couch. Had we known, we would have gone...
Read moreYou're better off buying furniture from craigslist as it would have more chances of being returned if there's a problem. The sales staff is skilled at making you think you're making a decent purchase but neglect to inform you that you have only a 3 day window to return it if there's an issue. That's right. Not 30 days or 90 days or anything close to sane - three days. Add to that the protection warranty they sell you is basically worth nothing as all they want to do is fleece you and not stand behind their product. We bought a five thousand dollar couch from this company. In under a month it had a tear on the back in the leather. They sent a supposed inspector from their company 60 days later who didn't check for creaks or anything (which it has) but simply declared it a customer fault for putting it too close to the wall. They charged us over two hundred dollars to deliver the couch and the delivery people placed it against our wall. How were we to know the recliner would rub against it when extended? The salesperson made a big deal of saying how it could be placed flush against a wall to save space as it extends forward. This is apparently not the case, obviously. Now, they are saying they will only do a reassessment with the exact same inspector they sent last time. It's not the kind of customer care you expect from such a high-dollar store. Please take your business elsewhere as their furniture is no where near the quality they claim and they do not do anything to fix it when it has the problems it inevitably will. Within one month we feel like we flushed 5 grand down the toilet for nothing. Please do not shop here. We regretted it and...
Read moreI was hoping to purchase a new Sealy Posturepedic hybrid mattress while they were “on special” for Memorial Day. I had shopped other dealers and decided to give Havertys a try. My salesperson, Chris, was outstanding and answered all my questions about the differences in various brands, the benefits of a “luxury” hybrid mattress, and the practicality of an adjustable bed frame. He actually had me convinced to purchase a top of the line mattress.
However, when a total price was shown, Havertys wanted an extra $300 just to deliver the mattress. And although it was in stock, it would take at least 5-7 days to receive the mattress. Really? $300 to deliver a king size bed mattress? Interestingly a famous local competitor said they were able to deliver the mattress for free, and either the same day or next day. The mattress was the same sale price. You learn a lot when you shop around. There was another mysterious charge at Havertys for $89 that seemed completely unnecessary given the excellent warranty Sealy provides.
At Havertys request, I wrote a Google review (1 star), but my original message did not post. I did receive a call the day following my store visit and I explained why I’d never set foot in a Havertys store again. I’m old enough and wise enough to know when I’m being robbed.
I hope others will read their one star reviews… there are valid reasons for all of them. By the way, I wouldn’t have left a review at all had Havertys not...
