TL:DR - Great resort; obnoxious sales push. Resort is great. We have been Worldmark owners since 2008. We primarily stay in Colorado and New Mexico for weekend trips. This is the only one in this area that has an indoor pool. It also has the lowest point values with a wide variety of room options, so we tend to go here more often than Estes Park or Granby (though the other two are much closer for us). I believe this is our fourth time to go to this resort. On every trip so far the rooms and resort staff has been great. We usually go between the summer and winter seasons (white season) due to our work schedules, so understandably they are doing maintenance. This time the steam room was under repair. Last time the outdoor grills were in need of annual servicing. The location has several other Wyndam clubs on the same site and they rent out a lot individually to try to get people to buy into a club. The downside is that they want to do "owner education" and try to sell you more points at a high price. They hold your parking pass hostage till you sign up for one. It makes me want to go to different locations. But this one has the indoor pool for the kids. I am a very logical person and in the past I've tried explaining logically why we won't buy more at this time. They still push like a sleazy used car salesman. I've gone two times for the cash card (held out till the last day one time and was able to talk them into a larger amount), but it frustrates me too much and I can't enjoy the vacation. One time we scheduled and just didn't go. This time we tried to rush the "concierge" through telling us everything about Steamboat (we have been here multiple tines) and give us the parking pass so the very tired children could get to the room and eat and go to bed. I was a bit more of a jerk than I intended to be, but when people refuse to listen to what i am saying, I tend to get that way. He said since we were in a hurry, he would just come by the room to schedule later. I told him he shouldn't waste his time since I would not go (this was about the 6th time I had said that), but he was welcome to schedule us for whatever time he wanted since we would not be going. As I got to the room, I felt bad bad that I had been that much of a jerk to him. Then I realized, I have spent a lot of money on this club and am here to spend time with my family. He is the jerk, not me. We never did get any visitors or notes on the door. We did unplug the phones (so the toddler would stop trying to call places), so not sure if they...
Read moreLAST DAY REVIEW - this was a super place. Convenient to ski slopes (too early in the season right now) and downtown. We walked to most places we went, even when it snowed. The area is beautiful and clean, well lit. On the property there is a nice hot tub (beach towels were in our suite for convenience). There are picnic tables, grills for cooking outside, and even a lovely fire pit (currently closed due to previous drought.) There is a nice sidewalk all around the property. It's very close to a little shopping area with several places to eat. I think we hit lost of them. Lol
In our suite, there are all the conveniences. Beautiful patio with table and chairs, doors leading to this from bedroom and living area. Nice dining table and chairs for meals or game playing. Kitchen has a cute island (with electrical outlets which we used to charge our gadgets). We moved the utensils and table wear to just a couple drawers and cabinets for more convenience, but everything we needed was here. Mixing bowls (with lids available), blender, mugs, wine glasses, dish washing liquid, dish cloths and towels, etc. Bathroom is nice, modern, clean, spacious. Well stocked for towels, soap, etc. Bedroom is nice. Has ample drawer space for clothing, as well as a closet with a good amount of hangers. Front coat closet was the same. Coat closet also had a sweeper, a broom and dust pan, as well as extra bedding for the Murphy bed, which we didn't need to use, but was very convenient should we have needed it. Washer and dryer were nice to have, as we are traveling for a few weeks, so now are caught up on laundry. Lol Living room has a good size TV and a stereo, with nice furnishings.
We only needed to call the desk once while here and got a really cheerful voice on the other end. She took care of our needs quickly and efficiently, with a good sense of humor to boot. So appreciated!
First Day Review - Started slow - has gotten better. Room is very nice, has all the amenities we could think of. Enjoying the fireplace and the beautiful view (expecting snow tonight!).
Parking can be outside or in lower garage, which is nice, depending on the weather.
Will update review on last day of stay. Looking good now.
(Original 1-star review explaination: (Check in time is 4:00. We arrived early, checked to see if it was possible to check in early. We were told the room wasn't ready. No worries. We went back at 4.
It's now 4:55pm and we still do not have a room. I may edit this review based on what happens next....
Read moreWe stayed here through a friend's timeshare as our honeymoon was rerouted from hurricane-destined Puerto Rico. We LOVED the concierge services! I would highly suggest visiting that counter after the no-complaints but ordinary front desk service. When we walked into the room, we didn't want to put our stuff down or sleep on the bed, it was SO decked out with real rose pedals and towel art! Which was a nice touch as we started our honeymoon again after rerouting! The resort also gave us a bottle of wine and some VERY tasty chocolate! Overall, we were amazed at the service and welcome they provided. The view is nice, the distance to town is perfect and the living room area and bathroom were comfortable and clean. The bathroom is definitely ADA and the kitchen FULLY decked out, even to the the essential spices! We liked that, because cooking is actually something we hoped to be able to do on our honeymoon. We made breakfast and lunches. Only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because the second night we stayed, the fire alarms went off at 2AM. Now that is not at the fault of the resort and there were wildfires not TOO far away so the smoke could have triggered it. The aspect we thought not too professional was how long it took before there was movement on the grounds to shut it off. It was about an hour of alarm. Thankfully we were able to go to sleep after, but in the morning we called the front desk and we were disappointed with doing so. The front desk clerk said "yeah that was annoying wasn't it?!" "sorry, anything else I can do for you?" we at least wanted to know if they knew why, her response was not at all helpful. At this point we were happy to be moving onto the next place. That last part does not AT ALL ruin the experience or the overall service. However makes us conclude that this is a comfortable home away from home and they did their best to be as much as they could for our honeymoon. We headed over to Strawberry Park per concierge...
