My fiance and I went to this office depot (on cool springs boulevard) about 7 months ago and she bought a lenovo laptop. Well about a month after that the hinge on the laptop started to break, as well as the plastic part surrounding it and also the screen's back light was starting to go out.
We called the service plan company and they told us that the plan we purchased did not cover plastic parts or hinge failures when the cashier had told us that our plan we paid about $80 for (on top of the $330 for the laptop) covered it. We kept calling the company for months trying to get them to listen to us but no matter what we said they said it was not covered.
After months of putting up with that we went back to the office depot today to see if there was anything we could do. Although i'm sure my fiance looked like she was about to bite someone's head off had they crossed her, EVERYONE was incrediably nice and understanding.
After talking with Mindy, the store manager, she called the company and they seemed to give her the same run around they gave us, so she told us to bring the laptop in and she would exchange it for a new one of the same price range.
We found a laptop we liked and the cashier (I believe his name was Washington) even made sure to get us a laptop in an unopened box so there was no way it could have been damaged or have been a floor model. My fiance and I just wanted to thank you so much for how well you two both treated us today, and know that for any office or computer needs we will be going to office depot of...
Read moreOn June 6th at 5:30, after contacting the national Office Depot about a scanner return, and being told by their automated line that we could bring it to the store for a return, we did just that, only to receive some of the worst treatment one could possibly get as a customer.
The first sales associate was a young man who was quite pleasant, and told us to call the 800 number, but when we asked for further assistance (because we'd already done that and been directed here), a woman who claimed she was the store manager but refused outright to give us her name when requested gave us three different stories as to why she wouldn't accept the return.
When we told her that the 800 number her associate had just told us to call was the same one that directed us to the store for the return, she said "that number doesn't say that", so I dialed it in front of her and asked her for ten seconds of her time to listen to it, since we had taken 30 minutes to make the trip and she said "I am counting those ten seconds because I have other things I have to do".
Several times she outright ignored things we were saying, talking over us, and it was quite clear that she had no interest in actually assisting us as customers, just getting us out of her store. She did, and now my company will no longer be using Office Depot for anything, and I will be advising anyone I know to steer...
Read moreSimple. I purchased a HP LaserJet printer. I am opening an office, so 3 weeks later, I open my office and install the printer. We discover after hour with HP that the digital serial number and the marked number on the printer do not match. As a result I will have warranty issues. They told me to return it to the store. I attempted to do this only to be told by an Assistant Manager that I was past the 14 day return period and would have to deal with HP. After clarifying that it was a "DOA" she even said "the registers will not allow us to do the return." So if you get a printer that doesn't work at Office Depot, make sure you don't even want to return it. Really sad hurting small businesses with "I don't care" customer service.
EDIT to response below: I did call OD customer care. They said couldn't help because it was purchased at the local store. She then called the store on my behalf and after 40 minutes on the phone, we were disconnected and I was never contacted again.
I found an Office Depot, whos manager listened to my situation and was a human being to another human being, and worked out an exchange instead of quoting policy. If the the Franklin Office Depot could go completely AI, it would have a better customer care rating. At least the AI acts...
