A very nice youth soccer league to be a part of for the past 3 years! I thoroughly enjoy coaching these incredibly skilled and earnestly interested kids each season. The U12 coaches and most of our players are hoping the league expands to U14 in the fall of 2018. Sean Poulin (league supervisor) has been really wonderful to work with. Despite a whole lotta rain this spring season and some field closures, it has still been a great season. For kids that don't have a soccer program at their school and don't have the time or money for Frederick County Soccer, this is the Perfect league! The City of Frederick Parks and Recreation does an outstanding job of programming, city park maintenance, maintaining safety for the many Frederick running events including the half marathon, running the historic Talley Center and so much more! I have met many of their employees over the 20 years I lived in downtown Frederick and everyone has a passion for their job and has returned my smile when I greet them. I especially love recognizing Frederick City Parks and Recreation staff at the end of the half marathon, by drumming away on the cowbell I use to cheer on all the runners. It is the highlight of my morning to be able to thank The City of Frederick Parks and Recreation as they pick up the cones and barriers along west...
Read moreGood selection of equipment and nice staff. I knock off points because it's difficult to get in a workout at times because of the many inconsiderate guys (mainly young guys/teenagers) who hog equipment. Some of these guys stay on a station for 30+ minutes while texting for 5+ minutes between sets. They ignore you if you're standing by to work in and act all hostile if you politely ask to get in a set. So that's the main downside to this place: the lack of gym etiquette mainly with some guys. No issues with female clients though. The staff should have some type of orientation before letting people work out, as some members don't have a clue of how to share equipment at a public gym. So with all the nice equipment, the above creates a very negative experience for me and limits my ability to workout...
Read moreI only use the gym downstairs so thats all I can speak to. Its a nice enough gym. Has a power rack, 2 bench press racks, and space for 1 to do deadlifts. Its usually never busy, but there can occasionally be a wait for the above mentioned pieces. The rest of the gym is decent. A little bit dated with the numbers on the plates on a lot of the machines no longer visable, but nothing monumental. Ample cardio machines that I've never seen a line for. Free weight selection is limited and if there are other people using that section, you may have to go up or down a weight if you dont want to wait. Music playing over the speakers is sometimes not the best, but it is a public gym. Put in headphones,...
