During our recent visit to "The Gyro Spot" in Fuquay-Varina, NC, my fiancée and I discovered a treasure trove of authentic Greek cuisine that exceeded our expectations. The passion and pride of Derick, the principal owner, in maintaining the authenticity, cleanliness, and quality of the food were palpable from our very first interaction. His emphasis on ensuring a positive and memorable customer experience resonated with us throughout our visit.
Residing in Pine Level, NC, approximately 30 miles away, we were in search of Mediterranean cuisine while on a trip to Costco. "The Gyro Spot" caught our attention and we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the immaculate condition of the restaurant led us to believe it was a newly established venture, only to learn it has been welcoming guests for over a year and a half.
Our meal choice included the ORIGINAL GREEK GYRO PLATTER and the BEEF & LAMB GYRO PLATTER. Each platter was generously served with Greek rice, pita bread, tzatziki, and we opted for the Greek Fries (feta cheese, olive oil, oregano) over a salad. The quantity and pricing were notably reasonable, especially considering the current economic climate.
The highlight of our dining experience was undoubtedly the taste – authentic, unadulterated Greek flavors that transported us to the Mediterranean. The Greek Fries, a sophisticated twist on the traditional side, added an original flair to our gyros and emphasized the authenticity of the cuisine.
Would we return? Without a shadow of a doubt. Our heartfelt thanks to "The Gyro Spot" for an unforgettable...
Read moreI am very familiar with Mediterranean food having spent several years in that area. This is a very good casual restaurant indeed. The core of the menu are 3 types of meats grilled on a spit. Chicken, pork and a beef/lamb combo. The beef/lamb is processed by its very nature and I have not tried it. The chicken and pork are like German schnitzels stacked onto of each other and then grilled and shaved off the skewer. Delicious! My photos don't do the food justice as you don't see the very generous portion of meat you are given under the salad. They also do fries dusted with oregano and feta cheese crumbles, these are a must. I was also surprised when we tried their soup of the day, I was not expecting such a good soup in a kebab shop. We have been twice now. Immediately after our first visit I started to plan our second visit. We will be...
Read moreMy first visit, I ordered Pork Gyro, the meat was a mixture of dry crunchy brown dried out an freshly shaved. Quantity of meat was quite small, maybe three or four ounces. Veggies covering the meat were fresh and Tzatziki sauce good and pita wrap fresh. But I didn’t expect the cold soggy French fries shoved in on top of other fillings except perhaps to give impression of a more stuffed filling! I removed fries, they weren’t tasty at all! Price was a bit on high side and two 3% each fees were an unpleasant surprise…Operating Service Charge and Credit Card Surcharge. Latter was expected albeit at lower amount. Together with the tip I prematurely included they pushed actual tip over 20%. That won’t happen again! Bottom line, food OK but expensive, I will give at least one more try. Be wary of...
