18 screens
Opened in the late-1980’s or early-1990’s, this theatre is part of the massive Rio Centre and Washingtonian Center Complex. Screens 1-9 are on the first floor, while screens 10-18 are on the second floor, which can only be accessed by Rio Centre elevators, escalators, and stairs. There are concession stands on both floors, and also many restaurants in the theatre building. Screen 18 is now a prime at AMC auditorium.

President Snow Monologues
Seneca, why do you think we have a winner? If we just wanted to intimidate the districts, why not just round up twenty- four of them at random and execute them all at once?… Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. But it is also delicate. It can get out of control. Like a fire. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous. The spark is fine as long as you contain it.
War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed that, each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future.
Welcome, and happy Hunger Games.
Cato Monologues
Go on! Shoot, and we both go down and you win. Go on. I’m dead anyway. I always was, right? I couldn’t tell that until now. How’s that, is that what they want? I can still do this… I can still do this! One more kill. It’s the only thing I know how to do, bringing pride to my district. Not that it matters.
Katniss Everdeen Monologues
What the hell was that!, you don’t talk to me and then you say you have a crush on me, you say you want to train alone, is that how you wanna play, huh. Let’s start right now!
I want the rebels to know I'm alive. That I'm in District 8, where the Capitol just bombed a hospital filled with unarmed men, women and children. There will be no survivors. If you think for one second that the Capitol will ever treat us fairly you are lying to yourself. Because we know who there are and what they do. This is what they do, and we must fight back! I have a message for President Snow. You can torture us, bomb us, burn our districts to the ground. But do you see that? Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!
I volunteer! I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!
May the odds be ever in your favor.

Read moreThis theater has so much potential, however it’s poorly managed. I come here often to watch movies in the IMAX or Prime Theaters, because I’m A-lister and stock member and I want to support AMC. Every time I come, there is some type of issue(s). Usually, there's only two maybe three (on a good day) cashiers at the concession stand at high peak hours. The concession lines are too slow even though I arrive 20 minutes before the movie starts and I am using the A-lister concession line. There should be two to three cashiers (depending on time and day) for the non-A-lister customers and one or two dedicated cashiers for the A-lister line. Should be their best cashier not just anyone. This would speed up the ordering process. Sometimes there's employees just stand around while there's a ton of customers waiting to be serviced.
Most of the time the soda machines is out of soda, the butter machines are down, even the popcorn machine goes down and there’s two machines there.
Escalators are often not working, not a biggie for me but if someone is an ADA customer or someone who has trouble walking. It could be an issue.
The bathrooms on every floor is usually dirty, there has been times when popcorn is on the floor when I entering a theater, when I’m coming out of the theater after watching a movie. It is still on the floor.
You can tell the staff does not care about customer service or making this an enjoyable experience with their nonchalant attitude. Every time I pre-order food for a specific time and it arrives 20-30 minutes late. Sometimes they forget to play the movie or turn off the lights when the movie starts. This usually happens in the Prime Theater. Then, I have to walk down to the customer service desk to ask them to play the movie or turn off the lights.
These common operations issues can be easily fixed. I do not know if the owner cares (if it is franchised), but they do a horrible job training, selecting employees and managing this theater. The only reason I go to this theater because it is close to my house and it has Prime and IMAX. I do not want to drive to Tysons Corner. Like I said in the beginning, this theater has so much potential. It's in a great location and should be one of the premier spots to watch a movie...
Read moreI am referring to the specific incident this past Thursday (4/24) for the 8pm Sinners showing in Theater 9.
The only word that comes to my mind is NEGLIGENCE. When I first arrived to the theater, I used their restroom before the movie started. I went into a stall and the water wasn't very clear so I flushed again and used it. Not all the sinks or soap dispensers worked so I had to do a combo. I get it, end of the night, right? Then my friend and I ordered a drink (he opted for a water bottle and I got a regular fountain soda) and snacks. Halfway through our movie (930ish) I have to step out again to the restroom and there were two employees standing near it. They ask me if I need to use the restroom and I say yes, and they say I can't because the water is contaminated. I ask if it's fine if I step out of the theater to use the restroom and he told me it was the whole building with that issue, wow.
So I figure I have to go outside now, while the movie is still playing, and I see the cages down by the entrance and the manager on duty giving free tickets out to people who had later showings, because they closed the theater due to the water. I ask if I can be re-let in and she says yes, I asked if our movie would be stopped and she said if its already playing, then no. I go to Nando's to use their restroom and come back. Probably missed about 15 minutes of the movie and sit down to take a sip of my drink and realize there is ice in my cup, so if the water was contaminated, wouldn't the ice be too? I didn't finish half of my $9 drink because, contamination.
And when the movie finished and we were walking out, there were lines of people using the restroom and no one stopping them.... ?? So was the problem fixed? Or did the staff just not care anymore?
I know things happen, and I also know that HIGHER ups in management, not always the floor manager, have to make certain calls and decisions. I'm not sure when this realization of the water occurred, but it was probably before I used the bathroom at first. So, if you got a free ticket that night, they did...
