Grafton's Aldi store employs an extremely rude, obnoxious, and incompetent cashier named Nina (this name was on my store receipt). A not very tall woman with short blonde hair. Apparently she thinks it's OK to yell and bark orders at the customers. As I was hurriedly putting my groceries on the belt with both hands she loudly barked an order at me telling me to get my payment card ready, which I always do right away, after I'm done with loading my purchases on the belt. Excuse me? Since when do store employees are allowed to order customers around and being rude to them? You are not my boss, Nina!
After I swiped my EBT card she said there wasn't enough money on it, and that she's unable to check the available balance, and that it's my job to know how much money is left on the card, which is absolutely ridiculous and not true because every single Aldi cashier before her had no trouble checking the balance on my EBT card. It is actually a very quick and easy procedure, but apparently not for Nina, who tried to check the balance several times and failed, making me use my credit card instead.
While I was going through this "quality" shopping experience she condescendingly called me a "friend", to which I responded that I'm not her friend. She then responded with a snarky suggestion to use a self-checkout instead, which I would gladly do if I didn't have so many items in my cart. How about learning how to do your job instead, Nina?
Judging by the recent negative Google reviews for the Grafton's Aldi store, it's not just me who had to deal with this unpleasant employee. There are several similar complaints about her poor attitude from other customers as well. Apparently Nina is also known to make a loud scene in front of customers children too.
When I got home I immediately called Aldi's corporate phone number and informed them about my less than stellar shopping experience. It was my first call to Aldi's corporate ever, since something like this has never happened in the past. They filed a case and told me an Aldi's district manager will be notified about this incident. I sure hope something will be done about it. This type of customer service is absolutely unacceptable. Not sure what their response would be, but what I know for sure is that Nina needs a retraining and a serious attitude adjustment. In my 25 year history of shopping at Aldi, which happens to be my main destination for groceries, I have never experienced such rude incompetent treatment in any of their stores.
Oh, and BTW, Nina, or whatever your name is, if you're in such a hurry, how about you stop casually chatting with other store employees like you did today when I was shopping there. And while you're at it, maybe try not to scream like a maniac at other shoppers, directing them to the self-checkout like they're cattle. Your job is to be competent, helpful, and polite. Too bad you have NONE of...

Read moreThis is my favorite grocery store because the prices can't be beat, and the quality of the produce is as good as fruits & veggies at the big chains. I'm willing to bag and box my own groceries for lower prices. I don't care for the off-brands of things like canned tomato sauce. But frozen foods, dairy and cheeses, bagged greens and meats like ground turkey, etc. are good quality. Best value: The giant pizzas in the refrigerator case, plain or with toppings. Employees multi-task with ease and are very friendly. (I can't figure out why everybody...
