I've been a few times now and I can say, while enjoying the sun and playing in the water can be fun, the water is fairly gross and definitely not something I'd personally be basking in. The place is cool. The sand is alright too as far as manufactured beaches go. It's nice for kids.
There's many parking spaces available too which makes it a pretty easy place to access (unless there are towne square events taking place) 4th of July was also very hard to find parking. So definitely consider this when planning to visit during those certain days.
There's no fishing near the beach area and none allowed off the pier, (not that the spots are good anyway). But if you wanted to include fishing, you will want to venture elsewhere.
I rated the place 3 stars out of 5 because while I can hang out here, it's not my go to option. And because it's pretty populated much of the time. I'm more introverted so I prefer one on one activities with family and friends. Not much wildlife activity either outside of ducks...
Read moreA wonderful small beach to swim at Lake Granbury. Enter the parking lot at the Convention Center. It will look like you are going into the Hotel's lot because they share a drive. Parking is free. You can also park at opposite end of the beach but you have to walk back to this entrance. The swimming area is marked off by awalkway above the water. Which is a great way to feel on the water without being in a boat. Parking is available in the park across Business 377. There are picnic tables in shelters and a splash park. The concession stand rents bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. However I check on the time they're open. We are there mostly weekdays and haven't seen it open then. BE CAREFUL IN THE WATER. No life guards. This is a great spot to enjoy the outdoors in this...
Read moreNice swim beach within walking distance of downtown Granbury! There is so much you can do here. In addition to the beach there is a boat ramp, a fishing pier, kayak, tube, and bike rental, a splash pad, and beach volleyball all located near the Granbury Event Center side of the beach. Large and small pavilions with picnic tables dot the shore line for shade. At the opposite end of the beach is the bathrooms and outdoor shower. Connecting the two sides is a boardwalk out over the water and there is parking at either end. If the kids get bored of swimming just take them across the street to the park where they can run a play. The sand on the beach is soft and makes good sand castles, so don't forget the sand toys. This is a great place to take the little...
