Initially, I planned on taking my wife to Fredricksburg (again) for our recent weekend away, until I stumbled upon Hotel Lucy in a search for something closer to home. We could not believe this quaint, peaceful and beautiful boutique hotel is only an hour drive from our house in the middle of the DFDub. It was the absolute perfect location for what we wanted in a kid-free weekend to recharge and reconnect.
The grounds are meticulously maintained. Everything inside and outside is squeaky clean and of the highest quality -- the same you'd expect to find at any high-end hotel in a major city. The grounds are green with big, beautiful trees, and a lovely pool and outdoor area, though it was too cool out to enjoy the pool. The decor and accommodations throughout the property flaunt incredible style and attention to detail. It is very obvious that the owner and employees care about this place and their guests, and that is the primary difference I felt this weekend that you don't always feel while staying with one of the bigger "luxury" chains.
We stayed in The Belvedere room in the main building. While we heard laugher and chatter from the common area down the main hallway, we slept peacefully and enjoyed relative privacy. We really enjoyed opening both double doors to the patio outside and letting the beautiful weather in, which was soooo relaxing. The bathroom features a big and beautiful walk-in shower as well as a huge soaking tub that my wife enjoyed. While all accommodations were top-notch, I would recommend adding a bath tray to hold phones, books, drinks, etc. while enjoying the tub, and some larger and smaller bath robes, as the 2 in the room were both sized L.
All in all, we left yesterday on cloud nine, feeling fully recharged, though I've now been tasked with tracking down several of the interior paint colors and decor pieces that my wife fell in love with at The Lucy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back ASAP. Thanks for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI made a reservation for the Hey Sugar room at Hotel Lucy a month in advance. As the day approached, consistent communication with hotel staff was something I appreciated. It was not too much. I received my confirmation email when booking, another reminder a few days before, a text message which provided me a list of nearby restaurants and attractions, and then one asking if there was anything they could have ready for me in my room or if I needed help making reservations to nearby restaurants etc. Every time I responded, staff was so kind, sweet, and helpful. HL definitely has wonderful customer service. I ordered a cake to be delivered to my room. (Vanilla with cream cheese icing)The cake was very moist and was adorned with fresh flowers! When my significant other and I arrived, we were guided around the hotel and given some house rules. The common area and lounge area are beautifully decorated. This hotel is female owned and it shows! It is modern, luxurious, and trendy! There is a guest book to sign when you walk in, HL umbrellas to use if needed and HL pink coffee mugs! They have upstairs patio seating areas; one overlooking the lake. I loved that I was able to text if I needed anything and service was provided promptly. Our room gave me princess vibes. A few things stood out to me in my room. The gum ball machine filled with gum balls you can actually dispense werenāt just decorative. The hair dryer was also pink! There is a vanity type mirror under the sink which was a very thoughtful addition. The coasters were glittery! Besides the room being everything I wanted it to be to celebrate my birthday, I have to say that customer service has been and will always be the number one determining factor for a raving review of any establishment. Hotel Lucy is the place to visit if you are looking for a genuinely amazing customer service experience and a relaxing,...
