Extremely Disappointing Experience at Regal Cinemas (Stark Street, Gresham)
My sister has stage 4 cancer and is standing there with kidney bags coming out of her back, waiting to see a movie with her sonâŚ.and we never even made it into the theater
We came to this Regal location excited for a family night out to see How to Train Your Dragon. I had four tickets from Groupon and two that were giftedâsix total. When we arrived, we pulled up our Groupon barcodes. The cashier scanned the first one (which clearly said it was for two tickets), but only one showed up in their system. She tried for a while to fix it, but nothing worked.
The most frustrating part? The manager was standing nearby watching the entire thing unfold and never once stepped in to offer help or support. We were already a few minutes past the movie start time, and still no resolution.
While this was going on, we started ordering snacksâpopcorn, nachos, candy, drinksâspending about $100 thinking weâd be headed into the movie shortly. But the ticket issue remained unresolved, and instead of taking charge, the manager only came over when askedâand even then, she didnât help much. She kept insisting we needed more barcodes without offering any real solution.
By the time I even had a chance to pull up the rest of our Groupon tickets, it was 6:40 PM, and the movie had started at 6:15 PM. Nobody offered to fast-track us or take responsibility.
Out of frustration, I ended up buying six new tickets outrightâ$182 totalâjust to get us into the theater. After the payment, we were told that there were no seats together. Just scattered singles and one pair. With kids in the group, that wasnât an option. So, we asked for a refund.
We were refunded for five of the six tickets. The sixth one was the original Groupon ticket, which couldnât be refunded on the spotâthey just credited it back to the Fandango account it was linked to. That still left us stuck with $100 worth of snacks we couldnât return and no movie experience at all.
This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences weâve ever hadâno urgency, no accountability, and zero effort to make things right. For a night we were all looking forward to, we ended up walking out disappointed and out a lot of money. Regal,...
Read moreSound systems and projection systems are always in good condition and functional and no complaints about the movie being played any time I've ever gone. What is lacking is that during cold months and hot months, guest stand outside for long periods of time and only two ticket sellers are at the box office most times I have ever visited. This is a consistent and ongoing problem and it is talked about pretty regularly while you're in line from stranger to stranger.
On bargain nights, Tuesday's, hot dogs always sell out and more than not you will stand in line waiting to get up to the counter only to find out you'll have to wait another 15 minutes just to get a hot dog. Popcorn is always good and fresh as well as the drinks and snacks. Customer service is generally pretty good and though a lot of the counter help are high schoolers and 20-somethings, they are professional and they usually have a big smile on their face and are quite friendly.
The ticket-taker has always been exceptionally friendly and welcoming me and always asks what movie you're seeing and sometimes, even makes general comments about the movie will be seen which is kind. I admire him for doing his job in spite of his handicap and I think it's great that Regal includes instead of excludes people who are differently-abled.
Parking is always good and the lot is extremely large so even on busy nights and premieres you can always find a spot even along the edge of the far-reaching lot. There are three exits out of the lot making it simple to make your way to freeway or...
Read moremy wife and I love this theatre, the seats don't recline much but are MUCH more comfortable regardless, compared to other area theatres we've tried, the staff is always friendly
LOL at the people giving low stars becuase they couldn't use the restroom without a ticket - duh, the restrooms are AFTER the ticket taker, by the theatres themselves. Why would they just let you in? Doofus.
And the guy complaining his truck got broken into - well, it happens, and you probably had stuff sitting out in view. That's not the theatre's fault and no reason to blame them My god people are dumb nowadays
And the person complaining about them showing a PG-13 movie that was full of sex, that ALSO isn't the theatre's fault! Do your research, MANY PG-13 movies these days are full of skin and violence, it's gotten worse. Has nothing to do with the THEATRE YOU IDIOTS. READ UP about the movie BEFORE you go to it!
AND if you are worried about inapproprate previews, then wait to come until about 15 minutes AFTER the movie start time. That's about how long the previews last before the movies actually start
Take some personal responsibility and stop blaming everyone else for bad things that happen to you.
From what I see in these reviews, it's the customers that suck, not...
