i have used Stark's Vacumms for years, in all i have had 4 vacuums and a shampooer, still have 3 vacuums and the shampooer. I needed bags for my dirt devil so did just like i always do and just went in their store and asked for the bags and they always knew just what i wanted. the first thing the clerk said was what is the model number. I said i don't know that but I always just tell the clerks what vacuum i have and they know just what it is. He didn't even look at the bags hanging up. just you need to bring in the model number. I walked around the store to see if i could find the vacuum like mine but there was none there. I ask if i could go behind the counter (it was really not part of the counter) and you would think i was asking him if i could play with the cash register. He said NO you can't go behind the counter, you can't do that at any store. I said if i could just see the package i could tell if it was the right one. long story short i did get the model # and as soon as i saw the package i knew it was the right one. i told him if he would have just looked for it he should have been able to see it, (it was a very different package, red) he told me most stores would have kicked me out, i told him most stores would have fired him, he said, well that was not going to happen, so I guess he must have been the owner. then he told me to get out and never come back. Now my question is, if i can't go back into the stores, is Starks going to buy back my vacuum cleaners? if i can't go back into the store, where do i get my replacements and repairs. i have been shopping at Starks for years and never had a problem, clerks always been very friendly and helpful. When did their customer service policies...
Read moreI've always had great experience with Stark's. They used to fix me right up when I was still using Hoovers and needed regular maintenance/repair. Then, I decided to spend the money and get a Simplicity upright from Stark's. Best vacuum decision ever. That was in 2012 and it still runs like new. And that's really saying something given that we have 6 dogs and we vacuum frequently.
The other day I stopped by the Gresham location to see if they had a small part for the tools attachment on my upright. Jesse came outside to greet me and was so helpful. He said that I didn't really need what I thought I needed, and that the issue could be solved with some duct tape or electrical tape. He had the tape in the store and offered to fix it right then, no charge. Nice.
While he was fixing me up, I got to looking at hand-held vacs; something that may be easier to vacuum the dog hair off the furniture. Jesse demonstrated the Simplicity Spruce and I stopped by later that day to purchase one. It's spendy for a handheld, but like any Simplicity, it's definitely worth the money. It does a great job on the furniture and I'm sure it will make cleaning the family car much easier too. Plus, Stark's sells it for less than you can get it on Simplicity's website. Great value.
Thanks for the help Jesse, and for the...
Read moreJesse Alexander has come to my rescue - again! The switch on my vacuum broke, I have company coming for Christmas and just took my daughter's dog back to her so I needed to do a good vacuuming but, alas, the vacuum was toast. I ran the vacuum over to Stark's close to closing time, as it turned out. Jesse said the good news was the part was going to cost $14. The bad news was it was going to cost $80 to install. I asked if this was something I could do myself. The nice fellow from the back came and laid out the part. Both said they were pretty sure I could do it myself. Then, when Jesse looked up the part in the computer, it ended up costing $12. Once paid for we discussed how to take off this here, that there, use nuts for these and voila, the repair was done! This is the second time I've gone over to Stark's and they have been willing to sell me the part, show me how to do the install, to save me money. Thank you from the bottom...
